| ... a reason for the law. If someone broke the top once, it could happen again. While it would certainly be best from a collector's point of view to get another original top, I personally wouldn't want that kind of safety hazard in my house. We diD have that kind of safety hazard in our house, though we didn't realize it until after the fact. Our 18-year-old daughter ran through a sliding glass door in a 50s house that we'd just bought. (She was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, in case anyone is thinking of cracking a joke.) Fortunately, she did ... | |||||

| I saw pix of the Neutra interior... Richard's spirit lives on in there, have no fear. Common around here, the outside belying the insides. Kinda weird, but that's how it goes out here. I guess it takes time being here to see beneath the outer skin and to get used to the repetitive style. And heaven's, no Robert, I didn't take any offense to anything that was said. | |||||

| Not a chair I've got an Arne Wahl Iversen planter there now. My furniture hunting has come to a complete standstill because we're moving to Lausanne and we've put the house on the market. I'm so bummed because I didn't even get to finish furnishing half of that great house. However, I can look forward to furnishing whatever house or apartment we find in Switzerland. Imagine, a whole new continent for me to plunder and pillage for hidden MCM treasures. Lauritz.com, watch out! | |||||

| I questioned him about the... I questioned him about the repair and he didn't have any knowledge, but said there was a chance that his father could have had work done to it. that being said, I dropped my offer to $2000 and he said we were close, but not quite there. I do know for certain though that $2500 would have bought it, and likely anything over $2300. in the auction he'll probably get close to $3000, but will have to go thru all the trouble to ship it (he said the high bidder was in france) AND pay ebay (which is getting pretty ridiculous price wise) ... | |||||

| Not available I dont think those are available in the US. However, I've seen similar danish chairs and the hubby didn't love them. They reminded him of cafe chairs. I was really in love with Ch 47 - so simple and almost anonymous. But at a start price of $1100usd = out of my range. | |||||

| Dordoni Love the Dordoni. Want to set everything Moser does on fire. Even the traditional styles of furniture are muddled and ill proportioned. I think Hilton's Cross chair is much better than the Manta. (but it didn't come out this year) | |||||
| The hairpin legs | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | barrympls | General discussion | |
| The hairpin legs didn't clean up very well. Thjey appear to be either 100% zinc alloy or perhaps, alluminum, They have dark spots on them and they don't seem to come out. I used Brasso, and then actually used an SOS soap pad on 'em, which brightened up the background and but those dark spots are still dark. So I just put them back on and gave up. | |||||

(a few were out all last winter, testament to durability) I have a few dozen extras so i just brought a dozen up to do a test running through the kitchen. I recently re-waxed and elder dog is having trouble so they do make a fine runway for her. Flokatis are great but not for wood floors. They slip around. I cut mine into 4x4 squares. Go in the wash and dryer. Great dog beds. They just get better and fluffier. (I didn't stitch the sea ...

| ... while most cheap replicas are made in China or some other low wage country. Despite this price difference, my answer is still 'yes', I think it is worth paying that much more money for FH, even if it is well over what I could or would pay. One reason is the opportunity cost of buying replicas or knock-offs, something that I think often gets overlooked by people trying to rationalise their purchases. While a share of Fritz Hansen's profits is used to reward its top management and shareholders, other parts go to research and development so that new designers ... | |||||

It will be a great way to quickly fill the many gaps in the Index and to make out of it a reference tool that will be the most complete possible. In the meanwhile, everyday we will discover objects and/or designers that we didn't know before visiting the Radar. We find it very enriching and we hope that you will experience the same. Concerning the problem of the 'price on asking'. The subject has been debated already in the forum. If one likes it or not, it is a reality that one ...
| Fake can imply | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | LuciferSum | General discussion | |
| Fake can imply Fake can imply that there is an unauthentic copy of an existing piece or it can imply that there is something that is attributed to someone who didn't actually create it. Example: VanMeegeren created fake Vermeer paintings during WWII. He didnt copy paintings he created new ones and attributed them to Vermeer. It is doubtful that your pieces are Saarinen. There are no returns for Saarinen counter stools on Knoll's photobank or on Architonic, or on Wright etc. Probably a copy of the executive series by someone like Burke- much in the same ... | |||||
