| Apparently I'm a potential murderer.... I've had three shrill, bordering on the hysterical emails this week from unicornsdoexist - aka xxx, practically accusing me of wanting to kill my customers! It has gone strangely quiet since I replied telling them I knew who they really were. My auctions didn't get pulled but I think that's only because Ebay can be a bit slow sometimes. Their total hypocrisy really sticks in my throat. Of course, I will be returning the favour as will family and friends! (edited by Design Addict - no names please) | |||||

| Meridian clock You know Barry, it's a very nice looking Howard Miller clock. I didn't say I did not like it.? I have a few ceramic Meridian clocks too. It's just that you put it under "Another Nelson clock thread" and it is not a Nelson Associates design. True it is in a 1964 Howard Miller catalog, but no where in that catalog does it mention George Nelson Associates as the designers. The Vitra book also doesn't list the ceramic Meridian clocks as Nelson's. Irving Richards (of Richards Morgenthau, Inc) had the deal with the ceramic Meridian clocks and ... | |||||

| greenwashing response 2 4. The construction uses some reclaimed wood and SIPs, but still uses OSB board, which most likely contains formaldyhyde. True - the SIPs were made with conventional OSB. This ended up being a sourcing factor for us - we didn't find anyone nearby that made "natural" SIPs. All finish materials - plywood for cabinetry, flooring (which came from sustainably managed forests), paint, tile (made from recycled glass) - were formaldehyde free. If you are going the indoor air quality route, it is the finish materials that have the most impact. ... | |||||

| another hassled dealer I just wanted to say that I too have items removed by ebay in the past for spam wording and discovered that the person doing the reporting was the talked about Angel. (they admitted it to me!!!). Its been quite shocking to see that they are still doing this to other dealers and now with threats of Fire Regs. It is extremely sad, bitter and very disheartening. I am glad that they have been named and shamed. This is what they have wrote on one of their descriptions for an item.. I mean pleasssssee... Its pathetic... "This is the second t ... | |||||

| Sounds good to me I certainly didn't mean to step on any toes, myself. Too bad we don't have a worthy graphics problem to coalesce around. I would never suggest that all of graphic design, or logo design specifically, is merely a matter of type selection. This cut-rate problem did seem to me to be one which could be dispatched with an available font, since the gimmick is the numeral. But of course each designer would approach the problem from his or her own perspective and experience. And I am not a trained graphic designer. | |||||

| . Items I published didn't were sold on-line. Anyway I'll surely sell them locally next days. I'll do the transfer. Just must see how to do that little detail. (Still verifying pay-pal (!!), will end next week they say....). Thanks DA for the work, I imagine only a little bit how much effort this must be required, and to gives us the chance to participate. | |||||

| there is no other designer...... beside starck of this generation that has had as much impact and notoriety in this era as charles eames did in his..... thats what i meant and y'all know it is true. did i mean they share the same philosophies ? did i mean their work is similar ? did i mean they both ate fruity pebbles for breakfast ? of course i didn't, the meaning is that starck is the only designer of this generation that has left a big mark on the design world. whether you like him is irrelevant. | |||||

| Comforting to know that these problems plague pros I've used damp rags, blades, masking tape, and even flexible plastic drinking straws to clean up glue eruptions. Always considered my solutions very "makeshift" and to be done while no one was looking. (and the mere fact that such solutions were necessary-- proof of my incompetence. I'd assumed that 'real' woodworkers didn't have to contend with the rude spurting glue that regularly accompanied my repair & refinish projects...) | |||||

| i don't think...... i moved the focus back to DWR in that post, after re-reading the post i'm sure i didn't. its nothing personal, i just think someone needs to stand up and state the truth.... DWR's behavior is much more hypocritical than room and board's.... as for the detailed financial info its all public information. speaking of which, did you know that DWR was down to $400k cash in the bank in july ? thats pretty much bankrupt. they then sold themselves for $15 million.... less than the value of their inventory. if they didn't they would hav ... | |||||

| ... since then some stuff, and here I'll post some to re-start. First, I'm an amateur on this. A week ago I went to a bookstore and saw a book about it, the history, etc. But instead of investing in that book I decided to buy a book about "Che and markets/shopping" for another thread ;). I thought that somebody could made a very little introduction, better than me. Robert perhaps? Once again, I pass the ball as you see. 😉 But Here is some of the material: I don't want to talk too much, but what recall my attention is the translation from what supposed to be a p ... | |||||

ALL buildings (ie:modernist buildings) are made of concrete (or stone/bricks) but the furniture are made in fabrics and metal and wood. It's not a matter of the election of the material. Simply, the historical Burtalist period in architecture had to be about contemporary to the furniture. ..If was the zeitgeist of the time.... That's why I choose brutalist objects from that period. Why are brutalist?.. Perhaps is the the way was translated that into the objects The table/c ... | |||||

| Bruatlist objects When I asked about brutalist objects I didn't thought having nothing in mind, Yes was to me clear what it was in architecture, but as we always talk about objects, was natural to have this question, but no so quick imagines in mind.... open parenthesis... then I recalled Robert's question on inspiration... Isn't great for inspiration the translation from architecture into furniture...? fashion to architecture, to graphicdesgn to cinema, and why not from political-biology to industrial design 😉 blablahbla.
