| There is no marking on the... There is no marking on the worm or any of the bracket parts, so theoretically they could be easily faked, but I've never come across a fake one and would be surprised if there were any. You can check the packaging, meaasurements and colors are correct and be reasonably sure its original I guess. BTW, installation is a bitch, be sure to follow the recommended designs! I didn't and learned the hard way how unforgiving hard plastic can be to bend. | |||||

| Oooh, you meant the central heating! | 1 Relevance | 17 years ago | Ron Sim | General discussion | |
| Oooh, you meant the central heating! The vertical thing is one of three central heaters in the living room/annex. So it cannot be moved. I'm at a birthdayparty now, so I can't change things now. We did already line up the dining table to the window, but my wife didn't like it. What you saw as a barstool is in fact our kids' chair.. 🙂 It's a bloom loft extra high... | |||||

| new pictures... we started moving things around right away! What do you think of the lay-out? We really like the dining room table at the window! 🙂 Also the new lay-out offers a bit more the warm living room feeling. What would you change? What should we do with the open space where the dining room table once was? Maybe a nice bookcase or something? Any suggestions? We also moved the couch to where the tv was, but it didn't really work out we thought. In that case it still felt kinda far from the tv, but it would also be weird to leave a meter space betwee ... | |||||
| I feel a bit bad about DWR | 1 Relevance | 17 years ago | barrympls | General discussion | |
| I feel a bit bad about DWR In general, they were/are an honest dealer of quality modern and mid-century modern furniture. Their stores are nice, but here's where I think they made errors; 1) they didn't bother to try to compete with the internet dealers by offering to match the no-tax deal (and arrange for their suppliers to discount that tax amount) 2) they generally only carry products from vendors that can easily be found on the internet. (Why didn't they handle some well known Italian lightning that's not available anywhere else in the US? Why didn't ... | |||||

| got me thinking.... Your ideas got me thinking, super! We never thought of not having the dining table near the kitchen, it's almost like we think kitchen and dining room table belong to eachother and therefore didn't thought of moving that. although I must say i'm a bit reluctant to buy a rug to put the dining room table on. We now have one kid and have a second one on the way. When we eat, of course our son sometimes accidentaly throws over something (most of the time he's just throwing things to be honest....), therefore I don't think the combination of a ... | |||||

I came across those candlesticks yesterday and wondered if the people bidding knew something that I didn't. I didn't realize DWR was the seller which explains the inflated price. | |||||
| Bourbon and Rye | 1 Relevance | 17 years ago | Olive | General discussion | |
| Bourbon and Rye The first time I had a Sazerac it was at Upperline's restaurant in the Garden district in NOLA. It was made with Bourbon and I loved it. The second one I ever had was at the actual Sazerac's Bar in the Fairmont downtown NOLA. It was made with Rye and I didn't like it as well. I found the Rye rather astringent and chatted with the bartender about the recipe and he told me that either Bourbon or Rye is fine to use. The classic cocktails book I have actually suggests Bourbon over Rye, so I'm happy with the MM. The original version made by Mr. Pe ... | |||||

| Good to know you're still wit... Good to know you're still with us Gustaf. That is an interesting print. On the other hand, here's how this disaster occurred. I was walking to a thrift store. They usually have some tables and chairs sitting outside the store and there's this faux Saarinen tulip side table. From far away I knew it was fake so I passed right by it. didn't found anything interesting in the store so on the way out, just for kicks, I asked the guy how much was the table outside. He said $5 I was like "eh, what the hell" This table even made it to ... | |||||

| Daiquiris and Whiskey Sours are "Eames Era" (--as they say on Ebay) drinks that I enjoy. As a kid, I remember seeing recipes for Harvey Wallbangers in my parents bar guides. Several years ago, at a painfully-hip bar, I was at a loss as to what to order, so I blurted out, "Harvey Wallbanger, please!" to the bartender. The 20-something actor/ bartender looked at me as if I had ringworms in my eyelashes, and told me he didn't know how to make it. Chastised, I ordered a Cosmopolitan and skulked away. Another childhood dream, brutally crushed-- | |||||

| I just got them on ebay The link is below. I didn't know if they were genuine or not, but the price was right and I like them. Parchment is an apt name for the color, though they look white in the picture. BTW, are there knock-offs of these chairs? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330373526954&ssPageNa... | |||||

| :[ Wow, way to misrepresent what I said. I didn't say it was grandma furniture. I said it was poor design, it looks like something you'd find in grandma's moldy old basement, and it looks like furniture that someone from the 60s with average tastes would buy from an average furniture store. In short, it's nothing special. I still love you even though you own and ugly credenza! | |||||

| Furniture contender In no way does this top Spanky's squirrel, but I have a *lovely* set of Kmart dressers that would make you cringe. They sit side-by-side, and we use them as a changing table. Last month, two of the drawer fronts fell off -- apparently, the plastic, shelf paper veneer didn't hold up to opening the drawers. At least they have simple lines. I won't post a picture because I don't want the photo associated with my name online anywhere ever. So lame compared to that squirrel. | |||||

| Gentlemen, thanks. I am glad to see you are all still here. koen, your Swedish is excellent. I didn't have any specific subject in mind (besides the Mahogany Association... :). Any random picks would be welcome. I'm of course also browsing the archives, and hope to catch up eventually. By the way koen, I think you mentioned something about your memoirs in another thread...can I sign up for Volume 1 right away? | |||||

| SDR-- You've exercised admirable restraint in not opening this thread until today. You're sort of like that WW2 Japanese soldier, who didn't surrender until 1974. | |||||
