| You are correct, LS... Nelson didn't design most of the pieces which bear his name. But he oversaw these designs and must have had a huge influence upon their creation judging by the fluidity of the Nelson & Associates catalog. And he was responsible for discovering many of the designers who worked under and with him as well, the most influential being Charles Eames himself. And he got sauced all the time. What a man... | |||||

| The way I read it... Plycraft was making the Pretzel chair for Herman Miller. It was a difficult piece to build, so Plycraft learned a lot during the process. When HM stopped selling the chair in 1957, Plycraft didn't want their newly-learned techniques and tools to go to waste, so they decided to make their own improved version of the chair. George Nelson suggested that Norman Cherner could help them design a new chair that was easier to manufacture; he did, then battled Plycraft for the rights to it. He ended up with ownership of the design, but Plycraf ... | |||||

| Went to the local Goodwill... Went to the local Goodwill today on my lunch break. Looks like Angelo Mangiarotti......but it has a SOLD tag. didn't even want to ask what the price was. Never seen one before in real life, so can't be sure its real....but heavy, beautifully made with a carved out bottom (of the table top) to facilitate connection of pedestal and table. Would have looked great in my kitchen.... Someone make me feel better and tell me its a generic marble table/knockoff. | |||||

| Possibily another problem as to why Paul McCobb isn't considered quite the giant that the Nelson's, Eames' and Saarinen's are might be for a couple of reasons. First, he didn't design any 'drop dead' individual pieces that were immediately glommed up by the Museum of Modern Art, etc., like Nelson, Jacobsen, Eames, Bertoia, Saarinen, Kagan, etc. In that way, he's more in the Probber, Baughmann and Risum group of modern, yet somewhat conservative designers. The other possible reason was that he hooked up his products with smaller companies and finally, he kic ... | |||||

| Hi Woodwoof,I did some r... Hi Woofwoof, I did some research of this lamp earlier this year and actually emailed Charlotte Fiell (the co-auther of 1000 Lights) about the Pukesberg production of this lamp (comes in 2 sizes and can be dated back as early as the 60s). This is what Charlotte wrote as a response, "Many thanks for your question....I didn?t know of the Pukeberg lamp before you brought it to my attention, certainly its form is very reminiscent of the Fungo lamp designed by Massimo Vignelli in the 1960s. The image of the Johansson-Pape lamp that is i ... | |||||

| ... The issue is not puppy pictures. It was your flat attempt to mock part of my question. 2. You cannot make it work for you. Millions of adults do. That's why we are there. 3. Are you attempting to steal credit or do you need to answer the title question? It was mjf451 who I acknowledged and thanked subtly. 4. I didn't thank you because the only thing that you brought to the table, which could possibly be of use, was the phone # which we in the 21st can find in less than a minute and I think that you can understand why I am not a big fan of yours. 5.
