| I'm pretty sure | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | Olive | General discussion | |
| I'm pretty sure that tansu were used to divide space even way back when they were also used as stairs. I'll see if I can find any visual examples. But I remember seeing them set up so that they separated a room and lead up to a hole into the ceiling or to rafters/loft space. Didn't think you were picking a fight, I just found the concept of 'of its time' to be weird and I couldn't imagine something not being of its time. I suppose reproductions of antiques aren't but then again they are because manufacturing methods would show indications of the repros being ... | |||||

| Khus - Somewhere in between... Khus - Somewhere in between I guess. I'd been looking for a Nelson desk clock for a pretty long while for my nightstand, but didn't want to pay the silly money they seem to command. I found this one for $110. It was a bit of a risk because it was not standing up straight on its stand, and I also didn't know if it even kept time properly. Turned out to be an easy fix to tighten the stand, and luckily it keeps good time, so I think it was a pretty good deal. | |||||

| This will teach me to doubt... This will teach me to doubt the information given on Design Addict. Not sure how I didn't see it before..... From the Herman Miller website: 1957 The Eames molded plywood chair, molded plywood lounge chair, and molded plywood coffee table are discontinued. They will be reintroduced in 1994. | |||||

| yeah noise, thanks Killian, I... yeah noise, thanks Killian, I'm pretty sensitive to it too. Its best I live alone. Ivé never lived in an architect designed house but it seems to me the ideas trickle down to builders and we end up living with the experience and personality of the architect, usually male, middle or upper middle class and if they're young not enough experience of how people and families live everyday. Didn't Mies live in an old Terrace house full of plaster mouldings? Do as I say not as I do. | |||||

| Some days of pink till start 2011. Woofwoof, Thanks very much for the link, really interesting, to see things one already know, with a different point of view or how choosing some specific work, and not another, are changed for a different public. Marcos Lopez is one of my favorites local artists photographers. I've been bitting my tongue -using Riki's expression-, but next year I'll can't wait any more, I'll open a thread: I told you so. Arthur, your good taste to choose pinks is amazing. And Lagorreta is an excelent example. I love it. About cultures and c ... | |||||

| You might also try repair A friend of mine had her Vitra Eames lounge repaired because she couldn't find new Vitra replacement cushions here in the states. The chair was in some serious need of help - cracked, some of the finish was flaking, and the seams had torn on the seat cushion. I found her a guy who repaired everything - it was amazing! It didn't look brand new, just like she had actually maintained the leather from day one. And i believe it only cost her a few hundred bucks. Might be worth a shot? | |||||
| Is this helpful? | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| Is this helpful? I'm not much of a player myself, nor do I know much about pianos. I bought it for my daughter, who is taking lessons. The serial number is 752815. My piano tuner called it a Baldwin Acrosonic 36" spinet. Does that help? I opened it up and didn't see anything more that than. | |||||

| I had my friend helping me... I had my friend helping me with that, he works in interior design. But his taste is more into design stuff like new Cassina and all new stuff. While I like more retro cozy stuff. He did advises me about some stuff but still I was working with him closely on that. And he is always suggesting and suggesting and I am evaluating. Concerning the table, I didn't notice it was an Alivar in the first place. I mean I went to the gallery and asked for the Saarinen Tulip Table, but the guy selling there didn't say anything about the brand. ... | |||||

| . Arthur: The Zoot Suits Thank you very much for the useful link Arthur, yes I meant your photo. I didn't know. Is Truly Amazing, Great both: the style and the background history. Olive: The subtle sensibility that you have with colors is amazing. Many artist and designers provably will envy you. You already commented, then and now, how different you see some colors: you liked them in Massachusetts and how doesn't look the same with the sun in Santa Fe. Fascinating and lovely. Thanks for your perpspective on my work, some perspective is interesting... you se ... | |||||

| Why people collect promotional items? | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | Gustavo | General discussion | |
| Why people collect promotional items? I find interesting the subject, because I didn,t, (and don,t yet) understand this issue. This world of promotional gifts and how people could be interested. Then later, some items could be expensive, when some time ago was free. So Ark put part of the answer. Anyway not that clear yet. I was also thinking on open a thread about it, so was nice to saw it. Part of my understand/not understand is explain in the following video, It,s from Cha-Cha-Cha when they emerged from the under-artist-world. (Now is no more under, so n ... | |||||
| I think | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | jdip | General discussion | |
| I think that is the path I am going to take. Was just quoted 600-800 to get the leather to what they tell me will be "near new" condition. Does that seem like the correct price? They had me send pics of the chair to them showing the leather damage. They state that the leather that can be salvaged will be repaired/re-dyed etc... Are either of you in NYC? Can you recommend a place? maybe I can send the cushions out. Would rather have it done by a place that has done others eames chairs as this place didn't even recognize the chair. Thanks | |||||

| Yes, I also have those... Yes, I also have those Glenister books - I found them in a charity shop, so certainly didn't pay that price either. Arthur, perhaps you would sell one of your A&A books to me! I do hope this isn't the kind of thing that has to go on 'radar'... 😀 | |||||
