| Thanks Matty I can't get the chair guy on the phone:-( Van hire is a good idea! Might go there. Demp: Thanks for the input, I procrastinated and somebody got there before me. Seller said she'd let me know if the interested party didn't take it... fingers crossed. | |||||

| bolts Yes, you're right. Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't even notice it and had to look at another photo from the seller to confirm. | |||||

| Thanks Thanks to everyone for the help! I'm selling one of them (I have three) and wanted to be sure I didn't misrepresent anything. | |||||
| Aha-- maybe the one in my photo IS a DIY substitution! | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | william-holden-... | General discussion | |
| Aha-- maybe the one in my photo IS a diY substitution! It does seem to jut out from wall unnecessarily-- Jdip's is much better. If you didn't have the piece fabricated, maybe you could locate just the right little L-brackets, then mount one facing down, the other facing up. Not as purty, but it could work. Studs, schmuds; SDR-- half of my possessions are wall-mounted and I wouldn't begin to know where my studs are. EZ anchors have never failed me (and, I'm talking heavy wall units laden with books, a television, turntable, receiver, etc). | |||||

| My older friend | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | SDR | General discussion | |
| My older friend is so pleased with her new bread-baking regimen. It started with some kind of bowl she bought where you knead the dough, leave it covered in the bowl for eighteen hours, bake it in the same bowl, and it makes a great bread with a great crust. And I didn't realize how simple the recipe is: flour, yeast, and water. | |||||

| I apologize for the delay in responding. I didn't see until just now that you'd asked me a question. I don't have any particular French designer or manufacturer in mind... But I guess the arms of your lamp reminded me of the differently-shaped and -colored shades on Guariche's Equilibrium lamp, and your lamp's reflector reminded me of the reflector on Michel Buffet's lamp for Matthieu. | |||||

| I think they would have been... I think they would have been better served by just painting the fireplace and cleaning a few things up. They do have some great stuff. Matty, is that Django Reinhardt on the cost plus commercial? Do you know the name of the song? I tried to Shazaam it, but it didn't work. | |||||
| There is alot of crap... | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | Cloudburst2000 | General discussion | |
| ... one of my favorite pieces that I have. It also gets the most comments from other people. And no, WHC, I didn't buy it for 'company'. I bought it because I really liked it. It happens that visitors seem to really like it too. So you can find good stuff on ebay but it is really hit or miss with sculptures. I have also looked at auction sites but have never found anything I like near as much as that piece. I don't plan on buying another sculpture until I find one that wows me. | |||||
| yep...fake. | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | norm | General discussion | |
| yep...fake. Real plants in this situation were too messy, that's pea gravel beneath them. Watering wasn't an easy matter as well so we decided to go with fake. I didn't think I'd ever have fake plants but they don't look that bad in person. | |||||

| Uniflex Nice find on the uniflex dressing table. I picked one up last week at my local charity shop (£35 including a matching stool, still feeling quite smug), but the electronics for the mirror are shot. Are yours working? Trying to decide whether to replace them myself, or just remove the whole mirror and use as a desk. They actually had a matching wardrobe too, but didn't think it would squeeze into my flat. | |||||

| Exactly, William. | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| Exactly, William. The seller sets the price. If she didn't do her research, it's her fault. It's ridiculously easy to find the value of things these days, thanks to the internet. I'm old enough to remember when one had to go to the library and hope that they had the right reference books (and often they didn't)--or one had to know the right people who were willing to divulge the info. What a pain. Anyway-- unscrupulous is when someone asks a more knowledgeable person what the value of her chair is and the more knowledgable person says "one hundred dollar ... | |||||
