| ... 'gacked' with pipes and conduit, all exposed, so i painted it a neutral white all over. Only the sprinkler system was painted red by code. didn't make sense any other way. My home in the forest north of NYC is a cedar post and beam. The original previous owners were artist and did some outrageous wall coverings. I just decided to embrace it. A bit crazy but hey, you just can't make this stuff up. When we were looking for property, a brownstone was a possibility. The real-estate, sq footage just in the staircase, always buggged me. But i decided that all o ... | |||||

Otherwise they haven't moved -- yet -- and now that they're coated (three coats, acrylic and polyurethane) I might be out of the woods. But bathrooms do get steamy . . . I'm going to measure it again after a month of use. The panels are hung is such a way that they can grow or shrink without pulling themselves apart -- and since side panels and doors would move to the same degree ...

| Yeah that was me But I don't see the connection. Painting a wall is easily redone to suit changing tastes. A piece of furniture, not so much. I have more white walls than not, but only white becomes a little boring if the architecture itself doesn't have interesting details to draw the eye IMO. In some places it looks great. Especially places with large windows and amazing views. And there was no mention of "strong" colors. No one suggested stop sign red, or neon green. All white is a little trite and a little safe if you ask me - but you didn't, I guess. | |||||

| Thanks Jdip, much appreciated... Thanks Jdip, much appreciated. I saw other Modeline lamps on Ebay, but they varied so much in style, size and price. I know she didn't pay a whole lot for it at Habitat for Humanity Restore, but I wanted to meet her somewhere in between, so she can make a little and I can still get a good deal. It is a cool lamp. The one thing I don't like is the cord. It's the original cord and socket. I'd like a cord that isn't white. | |||||

| Small-Claims Court My husband and I sued. We had a strong case, but as it it turned out, we didn't even need to worry about it.... We won the lawsuit by default, because the defendant didn't even bother to show up. The whole process took years, but in the end, it was all worth it. We got justice -- not in the form of money but in the form of some awesome Scandinavian furniture!! -- and we got immense satisfaction from knowing that we didn't back down. I plan to write an essay about the experience: "Small-Claims Court: A Love Story." | |||||

The masses needed table lamps and this is the kind of thing that filled that need---same as what IKEA and Target and other stores do today. If you like it, great. If you come here and expect others to like it too, well---it's just not gonna happen.

| It's good to see that 1934 Knape patent drawing. Knape and Vogt still make the very system illustrated; it became the "gold standard" (no pun intended !) of American-made wall-hung shelf support systems. Because the locations of the wall standards is independent of the length of the shelves, every standard can be placed over, and screwed to, a wall stud. [I know of a potter who lost many pieces in his collection because a room-mate (a landscape architect) apparently didn't understand the basics of shelf system installation, as mentioned above !] | |||||

| ... - by India's own investigator - was that the items were sold by Chandigarh authorities with permission of Chandigarh authorities and were legally purchased by the European art dealers. Here is the quote from the Indian Times: An internal inquiry conducted by the department has confirmed that significance of the heritage artifacts was not taken into consideration at the time of fixation of auctions as is evident from the list of items sold. The probe was ordered after Paris-based auction house, Artcurial, took UT by surprise in February 2010 by selling furni ... | |||||

| also if the store also if the store listed them as real i would call them and ask them why they sold you fake furniture. Buyer beware but retailers are also not supposed to list items as the authentic thing when they are unsure. I have see "Eames Style plywood chair" which is must different from them claiming that it is the real deal...Still cool chairs but I would definitely see about returning them or trying to get some sort of discount.... That brings me to another good point...dont buy stuff before you post it on here o_O! i would have bought a lot of cr ... | |||||

| Thanks For the advise. didn't pursue it even though it was a super deal. didn't feel comfortable sending someone a lump of money in hopes of receiving the chair as promised. It was the oddest craigslist sale I have ever come across. Someone conducting there own private 5 day auction via emails. I imagine that at lead a few if you must have seen the add. it was a Chicago listing. | |||||

| yeah... I googled it also but didn't find anything. The crazy thrift store is selling them for 20 bucks each! This is the same thrift store that prices cheap Ikea chairs at $75 and Knoll for $8. If they are still there next time I go I will snap a picture and post it. I think that it said where they were made but I don't remember, I know that they are American. | |||||
