| ... look cool, and I can better see the design element, but the finished product in dark wood makes me think they should go in front of my grandma's Victorian piano. Maybe the Time-Life building didn't want to go out on too much of a ledge with modern design so Eames incorporated some more traditional design elements in their work with the building. | |||||

| Actually, I had the exact cha... Actually, I had the exact chairs in the your next-to-last photo but they are essentially the same as the ones above. Except the ones above have the pointy upper ends on the legs and I was worried about getting bruises on the backs of thighs if people didn't aim their butts exactly right when sitting down. Silly, maybe! The last Moller you posted I think would look better with the table. Other than that, i kinda agree with waffle (?)---you need something bolder with that table. | |||||

| Could be Very well could be a frankenstein but given the circumstances I didn't feel comfortable getting up there and over turning the chair for inspection. I was hoping maybe they did belong together and it's just some redone upholstery problem. Many times in the past when I've seen what appears to be incongruent base/chair combo that's been the issue. It's actually pretty rare to find a chair in crap circumstance to be a match up job. Taking the time to match up a odd chair with a odd base, that doesn't fall apart, is a bit of an undertaking and given the ... | |||||

| Thanks guys for everything!... Thanks guys for everything! We were looking for a real nice, original, unrepaired one and finally went to see it and it looked really akward... Seems to have be repaired although the guys said it wasn't. So, well.. that didn't seem very trustworthy.. especially for that amount of money! Thanks a lot for your help! | |||||

So that would lend to either the chair being a marriage or possibly confirming that the shockmounts were indeed reglued and/or replaced.

| Shockmounts... The next obvious discrepancy was the shockmounts and epoxy. To me, they looked brand new. But it could be that he had reconditioned them to the point of looking new. Either way, they didn't look like anything I own or have owned. And whether he replaced them or restored them, obviously he should've disclosed the work he did. As for the label, there's no point in even discussing it as there's no way to say whether it was or wasn't legit. But I did find it odd that he had a plastic protective film taped over it upon arrival. | |||||

It's worked well for me, after my cat attempts to scratch my furniture and I then go over and scratch on her cardboard pads, she always walks over and scratches the hell out of the cardoard like a good kitty. If the yelling doesn't work, the water bottle will. Just keep a handy spray bottle by your side, any time kitty tries to scratch yell "no" and spray with some water. It will get to the point merely reaching ...

| original? Interesting...thanks for your post. I have an original Maria that my father bought himself to use as his conference table. Inoticed tghat the one I found seems to have sharper corners. I've seen other, much less well made versions of the accordian table, but didn't realize that someone has attempted to copy the Maria table. I only saw the about a foot of the end of the closed table at the shop and so I asm not certian (I'll see it again next week). The legs were identical to my own table and the proprioetor noted that the table was "very heavy" ... | |||||

I inherited quite a few pieces from her but unfortunatly, I didn't have room for it all and it was sent to a consignment shop in Seattle.

| Thanks Thanks for the nice comments! brbeard, I did consider drilling a hole as you suggested but then got caught up in trying to get the weld right and forgot about it. I also liked the idea of the cord coming out of a back leg a bit better. I'm still considering drilling a hole a few inches from the ground in the back of the front leg and having the cord exit the leg there. Heath, just above the weld is another good option to consider. I think the bare metal is growing on me. The galvanized looks similar to H bases I have on Eames shells. The finish ... | |||||

Within minutes of paying I realized that the table was a marriage of a older phoney (non Herman Miller) LTR and a real mid-60s HM emblem. In reviewing mylastdime's feedback I discovered that he had recently purchased 4 tables from another dealer. Based on both auctions photos it looks like he cleaned up the surface of one the tables and added the vintage label. Hmm, sound familiar? ...

| . Thanks, a good read, anyone seen one of his buildings? ?We dressed all in black and became night marauders and Ninja warriors,? said Brennan, sneaking out late at night to remove wreaths on front doors, as well as doormats and dog beds, or anything else that marred the purity of the place, in their estimation, ?cleaning it up and cleaning it up until the essence of the building came back.? Didn?t anyone complain? ?I think they just got tired of replacing their stuff,? she said. | |||||
