| Some people... No matter what you say, some people's first reactions are to be not believe a seller. Try selling 1970's Bertoia side chairs without any Knoll markings. ha! Some guy actually bought a Bertoia chair from me and was skeptical because it didn't have any markings. (Knoll didn't start stamping until the early 90's) After purchasing he brought it to the nearest DWR and compared the two. Of course the new Bertoia side chairs look nothing like the vintage design. He demanded his money back. His first reaction was disbelief. Sometimes you just can't wi ... | |||||

| ... mid century design. I use lots of sites for that same purpose. As a matter of fact, I learned from a thread previous to this one that the Aalto stool I have in my shop is likely authentic, when I had assumed it was a knock-off. Am I allowed to use that information for my own benefit, because in that case it was someone else who asked the original question? Or do I have to buy a book to use the information? Or what about the next person who google's McCobb dressers and finds this thread? Is he allowed to use the information that his is authentic even without ... | |||||

| As a matter of fact As a matter of fact I'm shooting my own pictures now.. Normally on ebay, your listing doesn't begin to show in the search results for 24 hours. So we wanted to get those first 24 hours started as soon as possible. If you're actually upset about the date information on there, I'll go ahead and remove it. But to act like I didn't know what I had until you saved me from my ignorance is a bit much. All I needed to know was if what I had was authentic or not, sans a signature. didn't want to rip anybody off. In any case, thanks again. | |||||

| ... they replaced all four shock mounts. Since then, I've seen many slightly different-looking angles on many different chairs, even some current production. It's hard to tell from that photo, but you could be right. It might just be a case of tired shock mounts. The way the cushions are mushed, though, is just right. I really dislike the over-inflated appearance of the new examples shown in catalogues. If I found that chair, I'd fix it, too... and then sell it for $500 to a hipster that didn't care and put the proceeds towards a nice vintage piece. | |||||

| ... remodels. The toilet doesn't show dirt or stains - at all. In fact it was kind of a pain to clean the toilet because it was hard to tell when it was dirty or where it needed scrubbing. (not something you want to stick your face in to check closely either) Only problem with sinks were due to keeping it clean from Dad shaving in it every morning - the white shaving cream ring was very noticeable. We didn't have a calcium issue with our water, so no problem there - but I would def investigate water hardness before deciding. White rings don't look good on black ... | |||||

| Sounds more like an idiot eBay bidder rather than another complaint about eBay in general. I'd just list it again and make sure your ad copy mentions its height, etc. (in case you didn't) | |||||

| I'm curious... Why didn't you first post the pic and just ask DA members to identify it? Granted, people here kind of hate when someone requests an ID if s/he's never posted before and apparently just registered in order to get an ID (often in advance of an eBay posting). But you're a steady, substantive contributor to the board. Regardless, kudos for your independence and stamina. | |||||

| I actually did try this once ... I actually did try this once by working the end of a short piece of drinking straw between the treads of the fabric and spraying glue through it. I masked everything off to avoid the problem of overspray, too. It didn't work; the glue ended up very concentrated in a small area under the fabric and soaked through the fabric enough that you could feel it when it dried. It looks like the fabric is a bit grubby. And what's the condition of the foam under it? It looks lumpy, possibly dried out? I'd bite the bullet and have the ... | |||||

| Try Mark McDonald...He has... Try Mark McDonald...He has made a similar lamp that uses these end caps. I purchased two from him several years ago for my lamp and they were a perfect match. I'm assuming he will still sell them. OK, so I just looked at his website and didn't see the lamps and also can't find the thin edge cabinets that he was reproducing...Maybe I'm thinking of someone else? | |||||

| Peg my bookshelf installation covers the entire wall, but there's little if no possible lateral movement possibility. Also, by connecting the shelves and other pieces really securely, you won't have any side-to-side weakness. I might not have done it if I didn't have carpeting. Also, I didn't have enough top and bottom stablizers to complete the bookshelf. My late friend had his entire 78 record collection in 12-pocket albums on this shelf in NYC for quite a while, and when he died, I got them to take back to Minneapolis and I set them up in two different ... | |||||

| Alvar Aalto (early Artek production) Breaking a little bit from tradition here and buying something which is not by Paul McCobb I picked up this very nice little Alvar Aalto table and a pair of stools at a flea market over the weekend. Could hardly pass it up and besides if i didn't buy it the vendor was going to talk himself so far down in price he might have ended up paying me to take it away. | |||||

Like all their excuses for cutting corners these days, I am not interested in it - or anything of lesser quality. Perhaps if they made them to definite standards, I might be interested. I am dazzled at some people getting "grunty" over our spending $60 with a local craftsman to produce high quality runners rather than pay modernica $120 for a base made in china, ... | |||||
