| I'd have the Brazilian beach ... I'd have the Brazilian beach house for vacations! Barry, I do believe you're right about the ottoman. I was so distracted by granny's crystal chandelier above it (and that it was offset from the dining table by at least 6') that I didn't notice it. | |||||

| ... that I find which are going cheap. I didn't want to justify myself, but I had to buy this desk to get the chair, which was a Finn Juhl rosewood diplomat chair, which matches my own personal desk at home (not for sale). I now need to sell this desk which will pay for the chair. Not making a profit, just getting the chair I've been looking for, for the last 2 years. I'm sure some smart arse will have their own view on this though... | |||||

| ... Apparently every serious Prouvé collector in France was aware if this, but no one really says anything because it's big money to those willing to take advantage of the uneducated, (kinda like Sol Fingerhut's "prototype" Eames armshell). He told me that if I doubted him, to contact the Galerie Patrick Seguin for confirmation. So I did, emailing them the photo of the chair. This was the reply: "On october 15th you requested information regarding a falsely attributed Jean Prouvé chair. I am sorry to not have been able to get back to you earlier with a repl ... | |||||

| . Was pretty sure Wanscher too but didn't want to jump the gun, its interesting to see the progession from low to high with Wanscher and this style of chair, these look like they fall in the middle in terms of the amount of handwork required to produce. I hope its a keeper for you. | |||||

| Aloha from Cali Hi, I just acquired 2 Walter lamb arm chairs that my brother has had for years and was looking for value also. It's hard to judge and you cant go by 1stdibs prices becuse I saw a Walter Lamb arm chair and ottoman on ebay that didn't sell for $1500. 1stdibs has the same listed for double. I'm from Kona so I like the history and plan to keep them in my Atrium. Maybe contact a dealer and see if you can consign them? What Island are you on? Might have better luck selling them on the mainland but shipping will be expensive, I know first hand. Good ... | |||||

| Latex foam! Polyfoam will... Latex foam! Polyfoam will degrade a lot sooner (though in a different way than latex). I don't know about the seaming but I would guess that yours have tufting because the upholsterer didn't glue the fabric to the foam. That's something that isn't done in conventional upholstering but it is the only way to get fabric to lay against the curves in a chair like this. Have you upholstered before? This isn't exactly a beginner's project. | |||||

| Spanky - you're right This fabric doesn't have a backing. I called Maharam and it turns out I could have had an acrylic backing applied at the time I ordered the fabric. Of course, I didn't think to do this because I'm new and didn't anticipate the problem, and I felt like I had done some due diligence by asking the other upholster if it would work. Live and learn, trust but verify... Now I'm starting to google around for places that could apply an acrylic backing to the bolt I currently have. I'm getting hits googling variations of "fabric finishing acrylic ... | |||||

| Hmmm... well, it's possible that these items haven't travelled too far afoot. If you're really curious, you might try sending the photos around to local long-established dealers, auction houses, craft schools, and/or galleries that feature one-of-a-kind furniture. Often, though, many of the less successful folks didn't produce much before moving on to more lucrative pursuits. Jesgord, those annual "Design" books from that period published by Fine Woodworking Magazine and Taunton Press would be one of the first places I'd look. | |||||

| Hmmm... Definitely a first for me. Can't say I'm familiar with the designer. While my first impression of the chairs is positive, I think I like the idea of the design more than the execution. It's not often I come across something that is markedly different, to my eye anyway. The back and seat are very nice. But the legs are just a bit silly I think. Both the thickness and the angle put me off. It's as if the designer overthought or was trying too hard to impress. didn't come off in my opinion. A simple straight tapered leg design would've yielded a really ... | |||||
