| . I met a broker through some unrelated work I did for him and he suggested should I ever need one call him. Normally I don't bother with people that offer up but he didn't it was more in the conversation that he told me what he did. Point is he was a honest & decent guy and I'd prefer to deal with the likes of such. His name is Gary and his mobile is 0410 017 858 Although he may not remember me but just drop my name Wayne, the guy who layed his instant Turf (lawn) here in Sydney. They are all rather connected so I'm sure he'll be able to help. Drop a line a ... | |||||

| hence i said "perhaps glassartist" as a reference to your question mark, glassartist. though i did not re-state the ? nature of your comment when i later talked about the "good faith" part, so i apologize for that. i am still new here so i didn't realize the usual ebay verification etiquette, now i know. jdip, apology accepted. it's not about whether or not you care if anyone buys and sells, it's just about what i said earlier. anyway, have a great monday, ladies and gents. fb | |||||

No such luck so I went with Knoll's dark grey. There are miles of black webbing out there if you are OK with black. You could even find some old WWII parachute webbing at a military surplus store which was on the chair originally I understand. You sound a bit stressed by the process. I understand (I tried to get rust out of the inside of metal chair leg recently). Try to have fun and post the before and a ...

| ... are the types of things I didn't even think to ask about! Edit: I notice on DWR chairs that there is welting all the way around the ottoman - i.e. all four sides. However, the upholsterer stated that the proper way to do the footstool was to use a single piece of fabric, tucked and sewn so that there are only three seams: two on the sides, and one centered on the underside of the ottoman. Are there different schools of thought on Womb upholstery? Also, in the DA thread linked below, I see that Pegboard Modern states, with regard to womb reupholstery, that ... | |||||

| Thank you again Fastfwd I really appreciate the time you've taken to answer my questions and illustrate the photo of Mark's cushion. Yes, Lalo did the chair and he was so wonderful to work with - though we hit so many bumps along the way that I felt like I was taking years off his life with the cursed chair! (we didn't realize until we had glue bleed through that we needed the acrylic backing; we reordered the fabric with the backing and then when it was 99% done we had a glue mishap and we had to reorder the fabric and poor Lalo had to redo the entire front ... | |||||

| Warrigal 1. I agree with Mark that the chair looks very nice. You're right; aside from the cushions (which don't look bad, just different), the work seems impeccable. If the chair isn't as comfortable as a brand-new one, though, you clearly have to do something. 2. I don't know whether the foam will compress. 3. Yes, my cushions are asymmetric; the curve above the seam is different from the curve below the seam. You can see the difference best in Mark's photo, which I've marked up and reposted below. See how the sides are almost square above the seam, but ... | |||||

| No offense, Mark but your photos clearly show every cushion dimension EXCEPT the one that Warrigal seems most interested in. Warrigal, I can't tell from Mark's photos how thick his ottoman cushion is. I also don't know how the age of his chair or whether it's been reupholstered. I do know that your original cushions were 45 years old, though, so I'm not surprised that the replacements are firmer and thicker. Especially for a chair that's still in production, I wouldn't expect your upholstery guy to choose the wrong foam. He doesn't have to make any guesse ... | |||||

When I put my questions to one of modernica's UK resellers he said that he didn't know the justification for the high price either, and often asked the same questions too; that the price went up a lot in recent years which is "frustrating for everybody", apart from a few folk on this forum. Think I'll use eBay and buy vintage.

| New Chairs Picked these up yesterday. All three are in great condition, and the forest green looks like it just arrived from the factory. Middle is seafoam green. These have all been selling for 400-500 each and I didn't pay that much for them all. I plan to keep them for a very long time. | |||||

| Mmm, yeah. The enterprising owner could disassemble them and beat the metal corners upward -- but why didn't the maker attend to that ? Nice to see, anyway. That bucket seat might be comfortable, except for the oversized behind ? | |||||

| . How does your friend know that you need a new switch? It wouldn't be that hard to find anyway, those rectangular ones are used on all sorts of things. If the worst comes to the worst you can bypass the switch and wire direct to the bulb holder - you can either put an inline switch on the cord or pull the plug in and out the wall til you find a the right switch. I hope you didn't pay the £50 for it as you can get a mint working one for a tenner or so with a bit of looking | |||||

| hey jescord, I think I was... hey jescord, I think I was the one who suggested the Sorensen leather a lonnng time ago. I considered both Spinneybeck and Sorensen before upholstering my own chair and went with Sorensen simply because Spinneybeck didn't have a similar offerings back then (2 years ago)and was more expansive. The Sorensen leather is much thicker and stiffer than the Spinneybeck Aniline and what my upholsterer friend called suitcase leather when he got it. He had some difficulties stretching the leather but did it to the best of his abilities and ... | |||||

I only found one who would agree to to the job, but he wanted a ridulous price and assured me that the color match would probably not be acceptable to me. Perhaps, I should have shopped around and bought the leather myself then taken the leather and armrests to an upholstery shop, but I didn't I ended up going with a leather repair guy, who did an acceptable repair job (but ...
