| Thanks, Mark. I don't get about the country much, so I'm at the mercy of reports and photos. Yes, the loss of the high school was a pity -- along with another Paul Rudolph structure, a house somewhere in New England, which was to be moved (as I recall) but didn't make it. The collection of Rudolph we saw recently on another thread was a treat ! | |||||

| ... the chairs today and discovered that they have all had some repair to the sides. On closer inspection the side of the seat has been a cut into - they have cut away a 1 inch piece of the original wood and rejoined a replacement bit of wood into the side (like a jigsaw puzzle). So what I thought were splits in the wood is actually the replacement wood piece coming away. Having read the other links I don't think this could ever be repaired strong enough to not break off again. I love these chairs but if I can't sit on them worrying the side will break off agai ... | |||||

| ... The coffee table is identical to the one that came with the lot of my furniture. Of course, they are unmarked as well. (See the link at the bottom of this post). Four pieces of unmarked furniture excludes the France and Son possibility. (I'll gladly believe one piece in a known line of France & Son might be unmarked, but I can't believe the only four I can find in an unattested line would all be unmarked). Hvidt might still be a possibility, especially for the coffee table, but the producer must not be France and Son. What still surprises me about all t ... | |||||

| Oh, for Pete's sake. This forum is not a free appraisal service. This is clearly spelled out in the guidelines which you either haven't understood, didn't bother to read, or have chosen to ignore. Lenox was kind enough to help authenticate your nice chair and we all appreciate seeing it. Thank you for sharing and best of luck with assigning a fair valuation. Your insurer may be able to recommend a local appraiser. http://www.designaddict.com/tips_forum.html | |||||

| Yes, well, impressive in that it looks like it is used and used well. Two ovens!! I'm so jealous! I'm getting worried about doing Thanksgiving dinner with just one smallish oven (though it's cobalt blue inside, which is kinda cool---will look really good with the hide of a roast turkey). Back to the subject: I used to go to a junk auction every week years ago, and one Friday morning I showed up and there were eleven pieces of Dansk Købenstyle, including a stock pot. It was mostly red but there were a few yellow pieces. I got all of it for $90 and would ... | |||||
| My apologies also, j. | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | tktoo | General discussion | |
| My apologies also, j. I've been there, too, and have gotten burned more than once. I guess I didn't understand how whether or not the set has rosewood veneer would change it's perceived value to a buyer unless it might be used as a selling point, as I've seen more than a few walnut sets with more attractive veneer than many rosewood examples. That was entirely my misunderstanding. Thank you for setting things straight. Your Eames lounge is still out there waiting for you, as mine was. I wish you only the best of luck in finding each other. | |||||

| value I bought 4 chairs for 530$ from an auction site and on receiving them I am wondering if they are worth this much as 3 of chairs are slightly warped at the back and all have small splits in the wood where they have been stacked. The seller didn't list this at the time. I love looking at them but I don't find them that comfortable so I am considering reselling them on. | |||||

| I pick mine up this weekend,... I pick mine up this weekend, so I'll look. It's identical to this photo which was posted by a retailer in SF. So I'm thinking the legs are original. I took a quick peek when I was inspecting it last weekend before buying it and didn't see any signs that there would have been different legs originally. Thanks for the thought though. | |||||

| I must agree with SDR. My immediate reaction was that the grain of the face veneers didn't look to me like any of the species that were ever offered and, as SDR mentioned, the color, in addition to looking very off, seems to be in the finish. | |||||

| Oh my... I wouldn't be offended if the ottoman and the chair didn't match. Would you consider a textile for the ottoman, as opposed to leather? Or would that be too unorthodox? Perhaps the ottoman and the bottom cushion could be some fabulous Maharam textile? Or maybe I'm just buzzed. The price sounds good. Carry on. | |||||

| I guess it was only a matter of time before someone directed a comment at me personally as it seems to happen to everyone on here at some point in time. I have been a member for a while, no where near as long as most on here, and sort of consider people on here colleagues/friends in a way as I value their opinions. What was wrong with my question? I wanted to purchase an Eames chair as I do not have one. I did the background work and looked at completed ebay listings and went to liveauctioneers so did not ask what it is worth. I really wanted a vintage ... | |||||

| OH NO! :''( OMG. I hope it's not real. Because I did sand the seat today. Uh oh. 🙁 And another shock thing came off, too. needs to be reapplied. But yeah, I sanded... Now I'm sad. I didn't think there could be anyway it was the real deal. Urgh. Now what? | |||||
| Kofod or Kroehler? | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | william swift | General discussion | |
| Kofod or Kroehler? Hello all. Longtime lurker, first time poster. I recently picked up this white vinyl chair off Craigslist thinking it was a Kofod Larsen design. It didn't seem as sculpturally refined (especially the arms) as most other examples I had seen, but there are several sets of this same chair that are for sale, and have sold as Larsen chairs. This very thread seemed to confirm the ID. Three days later I found the green/gold chair at an antique mall. It's a different style, a bit more refined, but with the identical "non-magnetic metal" elbows an ... | |||||
