| Looks like ash | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | SDR | General discussion | |
| Looks like ash to me, too. So Knoll didn't make this table in ash ? If the glass is 3/4", that's a good sign. But shouldn't there be a thumbnail edge to the glass ? This top appears to have a flat edge with slight bevel. | |||||

| ... of aluminum lamps, -I especially like the Rietweld Panama wall lamp. I will have to look into Nico's suggestion as well. I hadn't heard of that technique before, but I've seen youtube videos of people repairing cars, popping dents out, by first applying the heat from a hairdryer and then spraying the area with compressed air to cool it down. It works on car fenders, but I'm not sure if this would work on aluminum too... Now I just wish I had a few spare lamp shades that I didn't care for, which I could experiment with before applying my skills to my more tr ... | |||||

| It could be the southern exposure, SDR. | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | tktoo | General discussion | |
| It could be the southern exposure, SDR. The sun combined with the salt might be enough to bleach the wood and discourage mold. In fact, I'm almost certain that's it. There's a reason untreated red cedar shingles are the prefered siding in coastal NE. Even utility poles weather to silver in short time there. Weren't you a New Englander for a time? didn't you get to Cape Cod? | |||||
| Interesting! | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| Interesting! I wonder why they didn't do the basket weave on the underside, too? It would be more work but would take care of any even-tension issues (not that there are any, it'd would just eliminate having to keep that cord evenly taut on the bottom). edited to add: the good news is that this weave will be way easier for a novice to do than what I thought it should have (the rush seat weave). Yay for that! Also, the two tacks shown are done on the Moller chairs too, in addition to all the L nails. They just anchor the beginning of the cord and the tail ... | |||||
| Interesting DHutch17, | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | Solange | General discussion | |
| Interesting DHutch17, and a little disappointing. I thought the end tables were solid teak. My table is not perfectly bookmatched and the ends are exposed, so if it's been veneered to plywood they did an excellent job of concealing it, as I recall seeing no obvious sign. Mine has the Glostrup label and looks just like yours...darn...your photo is convincing testimony that it is not solid teak.I will look at mine again next time I'm at my country house. I guess I should consider myself lucky I didn't damage it as I went to town sanding, believing it to be s ... | |||||

| Black cord suppler? Who is your black cord supplier in Europe. I have looked for this in the past but to no avail. I didn't see a name of your supplier unless I missed it in a previous post. Please post it. Thanks! | |||||
| Hi... | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| Hi... ...I didn't mean the design of the backrest is similar, but the workmanship (kurz auf Deutsch, denn du scheinst ja Deutscher zu sein: die Verarbeitung der Rückenlehne, das Zusammenfügen der beiden Hälften in der Mitte), further more it's Jansen and not Jensen, it seems to be a german product, because on the paper tag is written "Lfg.", that means "Lieferung", and Okt./Nov. is also german, danish would be okt./nov. Anyway definitely not Klein, Mogensen or Møller. | |||||

| not at all. The comments... not at all. The comments were taken quite well. I hope my writing didn't infer otherwise. Back to the chairs, I didn't want to crowd up the first post with chairs, but I just had to post an image of the Knud Faerch cow horn chair, which I actually prefer to the Wegner design. But I suppose it is easier to refine a design that someone else pioneered many years before. . . | |||||

| Unfortunately yes. It is hot... Unfortunately yes. It is hot water and not steam. I also cut a piece of extruded polystyrene insulation (the pink stuff from Home Depot) to exactly fit the back of the credenza portion to help buffer the temp swings. Not an ideal situation, I agree, but I need that radiator to be active and didn't have too many options otherwise for furniture layout. This particular Bernhard Pedersen and Son unit was designed to go against the wall and doesn't have the same wood finish on the rear as the other surfaces. | |||||

| Nice looking chair. | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | SDR | General discussion | |
| Nice looking chair. I wonder if, because of the complexity and (relatively, for the time) hi-tech nature of the construction, Eames and HM felt they were safe from plagiarism ? It didn't work out that way, in any event. I guess this is proof of the attraction -- the popularity -- of the design ? "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery," as they say. | |||||
