| Some clarifications seem... Some clarifications seem necessary: 1. If some of you thought that our response was to bring Mark into line, they are wrong. The only thing we have asked him is that he avoids to post snappies in too many different threads. Whether one likes it or not, some users don't seem to appreciate too much his humor. We are therefore seeking a fair balance so that his fans can still enjoy their daily dose of Mark's non sense. But also for those who come on DA mainly to access information on design, don't bump into its interventions in every ... | |||||

Thanks to all for the suggestions. didn't manage half of them but they helped us get a feel for the city and how much there is to do. One thing no one mentioned were the people who were open , helpful and friendly. Thanks to all.

| That Obit is very informative, not much to add - Your chair is from the Epsom range. Most of his pieces are named after places in Surrey, England. He trained at the same school as me (somewhat before me) in Kingston, Surrey, and didn't move far! | |||||

| chickens? I'd love to hear more of the back story. At what point did the original owners realize they were housing the chickens in a collectable piece of furniture? How did it get from an office to a farm (or was this an urban coup)? They didn't even bother to clean it up before selling it? | |||||

When I got my Nelson credenza it was literally being used as a chicken coop. It had been painted at some point and was absolutely covered with what you would expect a chicken coop to be covered with. (shudder.....) It was by far my most ambitious project to date, but it turned out pretty good. I had to trash the sliding door because of the reasons I stated above. It just didn't hold up. I simply went to home depot and got a thin piece (1 ...

| Saw this guy in a local... Saw this guy in a local thrift store last night. I am not familiar with Noguchis, so just assumed it was a knockoff. I didn't take any measurements, but did take some photos so I could compare to legit images online. This table does have the slight curve at the top and bottom horizontal members. Are the below photos good enough to authenticate (or not), or would I need to go back and take precise measurements? Pricewise, it seemed high for a knockoff, but low for an original. Thanks. | |||||

| Great so see some suggestions! Maybe it's not a bad idea, Leif, to take a more generic type of chest and place some interesting feet under it.. That way you could transform such a piece in a design like the arne vodder chest of drawers, with the right esthetic approach (for instance: the same type of wood as the body, placed at the end of the steel legs). Playful looking design, Heath! I didn't know that Japanese fellow, I'm looking into his work some more now.. | |||||

| Ya Ya Ya....... I know. Who would have ever thought... Why didn't they say they designed it...? It's still a really cool piece of rug wall art, and there might be some validity to that story. We shouldn't write it off just yet. These things are hot, and they do bring good money on the net. A piece crafted this nice could easily fetch $300 to $400 regardles of the name. I thought name would help add some value, but even without, it still has good value because of the design, color scheme, age, and condition. That, I do know. | |||||
| Yes, IKEA chairs can be rare. | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | fastfwd | General discussion | |
| Yes, IKEA chairs can be rare. Look at Panton's Vilbert chair, for example. IKEA isn't in the business of producing limited-edition furniture, though, so if one of their products is rare, that's often because it simply wasn't popular and didn't sell... So rarity doesn't necessarily imply value. | |||||

| Thanks all. I did indeed... Thanks all. I did indeed pass the Heller House, which has an open house every Sunday. Alas I visited on a Tuesday or something so didn't get to see inside. It's an interesting neighbourhood. Barack Obama's house is nearby, as is Louis Farrakhan's! Plus lots of interesting, architect designed houses. I wonder how they feel having a black-supremacist, anti-semite in their midst.... I was moved on by the security for the nation of islam. And the secret service, outside Obamas. | |||||

| I did end up acquiring the chairs with the woven leather strip seats. They are very handsome in this upholstery option. I am still not entirely sure if it is real leather or a synthetic. The strips are produced from a cotton core with the leather material coated on each side, due to the age of the chairs some of the coating has chipped off to reveal the cotton underneath. It seems that J L Moller didn't use this style of upholstery very often. Apologise for the crap image. | |||||
