| Thanks Mark! Went by this evening and it is the real deal. I had to buy the lot (computer, ugly table, ..) for them to let go the chair. I paid around 200$ for everything, including the chair. Originally it was covered in a rough brown fabric, but the owner had it recovered and didn't stay true to the original: see picture of the back. It's not authentic, but it's not to bad and it will do until our renovation (just bought a home) is over, then I'll think about reupholstering. | |||||

| "Sanding is alway the LAST... "Sanding is alway the LAST thing to do. Only if the other options didn't give good results." Dear Patrick and Alix, as professional you are able to see at first view how a certain damage has to be treated, then it's not necessary at all to adopt ridiculous measures as described above. | |||||

| The forum is full of very... The forum is full of very knowledgeable people! We are always astonished by the level of knowledge from most of you. Of course, like most human organization, the forum can not be 100% reliable. But if some errors may occur in attributions or advice in restoration, there is almost always someone who will rectify things quickly. PS. Sanding is alway the LAST thing to do. Only if the other options didn't give good results. | |||||

| Can you elaborate any... Can you elaborate any further? The only small iron Weinberg tables I've ever had (or seen) were the standard 4 leg type, with the small inlaid tiles, and they didn't nest. (Also a online search just showed the same 4 leg iron base design with an upholstered cushion type top - hard to be sure from old b&w ads) I've come across lots of small iron tables, but that rectangle leg is a base design I'd never come across before. did Weinberg do iron tables with 2 legs on one side and a rectangle on the other? (I don't know what else to call ... | |||||

| Work in progress I spent a couple hours on the seat panel yesterday. I started with bleach mixed with water, but it didn't do anything to the stains after 3 tries. So I went ahead with BKF again without scrubbing. I mixed it with water and made a thick paste and tested it on a small area. When I saw no ill effect, I spread it on top of the panel for a minute or 2 the first couple runs. Then I'd wipe it clean with a damp cloth. I repeated that process about 7-8 times. After each try, more stain would come off. The picture was taken this morning after the wood ... | |||||

| I must admit it was my mistak... I must admit it was my mistake that I didn't follow the instructions correctly. I remember reading paulanna's earlier comment about scrubbing with naptha with a toothbrush and somehow the idea of scrubbing stayed in my head when I decided to try tchp's approach due to his amazing results. That's how I ended up blending the 2 methods together and created an inferior outcome. The picture shows the slight fading of the finish near the edge of the top. One thing I truly believe is everyone here's trying to help and I"m sure there ... | |||||

| @cdsilva My thoughts exactly... @cdsilva My thoughts exactly regarding the price. If it didn't have the drop leafs I wouldn't be interested but that is a whole lot of table which is attractive. Unfortunately I don't have enough chairs for the table but I'll worry about that later. I'm also going to try to negotiate a package deal for the table along with a Risom executive cabinet I've been eyeing for weeks now. Back on topic, anybody else who may have info on the said table, please chime in... | |||||

| Doggerel. Now that is a cool word! I'll have to remember that. Paulanna, if you feel that people haven't posted a picture in the correct way- don't reply to their post. It's that easy. And I don't think the stuff people post here is crap(for the most part). Give some of these new users some slack. I didn't know how to drive a car for the first time even with instructions. | |||||

| Buying a new home is a huge decision. You are doing your homework (pardon the pun) more diligently than I did myself recently. Thank my lucky stars, I now have a solid (cash) offer on the newly purchased crib, and close in 30 days. The new owner has wanted the place for years, but wasn't in a position to jump 3 months ago. I broke even, after considering the realtor commissions, etc...and I didn't divide the land (thankfully). I am quite relieved. Perhaps you should let the home find you?. Anyhow, best of luck on/in your new abode Adam. With your lov ... | |||||

| ogd, yesterday there was an... ogd, yesterday there was an auction for a Speaker of the House's two Bertoia sculptures, including a spray one; the estimate was $15,000-$20,000, but it didn't meet the reserve (I actually just saw that in the linked article--I'm not trying to be a downer. I was going to say I couldn't find what the spray sold for). His name was Tom Foley, and he was an mcm collector. Hope you do well with yours. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/reliable-source/wp/2013/09/16/tom-an... | |||||
