| will Mark ever reveal... ... the undisclosed whereabouts of Adam Fowler and Robert1960? I'm not sure I want to know though. The horror may be too much to take. I am now remembering that you told us you had images of each of us in your head... but you didn't tell us that they were already there all along, half-"drawn", behind the mirror. I like the time-capsule thing. Now the new mirror goes up, and someone, someday gets an unexpected blast if they dare attempt to remove the new mirrors. Maybe they will finally get to see what happened to Adam and Robert. | |||||

| Will try to post photos I will try to figure out how to post photos when I get home from work today. I thought about putting link to a picture on a website of the arm chair in my posting, but wasn't sure if it was a retail site & didn't want to disrespect the guidelines of the forum. | |||||

| I agree. Looking at the crack... I agree. Looking at the crack makes me cringe already, let alone sitting in the chair. To get some peace of mind, I suggest you get some professional opinion on it. I hope you didn't pay too much for the set. | |||||

| I reupholstered a couple of those years ago. Mine didn't have any marks on them--i got them as bare frames. Some friends of mine who are dealers have a pair right now but I don't see them on their website. I'll ask about the chairs next week when I see them. I know they were referring to them by name but I can't remember what it was offhand. They're elegant little chairs and also very comfortable. I don't think they're meant to be tufted, though! | |||||
| Featherstone Scape chairs | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | Martin NQ | General discussion | |
| ... I'd just returned from a holiday in Sydney where the retro 60's craze was in full swing, I knew I had to have those chairs. Any child of the 60's has that craving in their DNA I think. A close friend subsequently did research on the chairs and I can thank her for the appreciation I now have for these Australian creations. The original covering was a gold-fleck patterned vinyl which I didn't like much, as it wasn't in great condition. I don't know if this is a heresy or not, but the chairs have been subsequently recovered using marine vinyl, as it doesn't at ... | |||||

| That helps a lot. Thank... That helps a lot. Thank you. Sounds like they're quite rare with their original glides. The particular chair in question is also 28" tall, which is an odd height. I think that is about the height of the MAX chair, but I didn't think the MAX was produced with the H-base. @EamesHead judging by your username, it appears you are the right person to speak with about Eames furniture... | |||||

| Well -- it could it could be worse -- you didn't take a loss on the merchandise ! I'm surprised to hear of bedbugs caught by a spider web; bedbugs crawl, they don't fly. (They can apparently be trapped in some kind of sticky trap. Professionals don't rid homes that way, but they do use them to sample the environment before and after treatment.) | |||||

| Oh, and congratulations! I d... Oh, and congratulations! I didn't mean to throw cold water on how great a find you've got. I just walk through life noticing the species of wood that I see (I know: weird). I especially like the story: pulling those out of the basement at your work place. | |||||

| My son has a small one and I reupholstered it about 5 years ago. I vaguely recall a Selig label on it somewhere. It didn't even have the visible bolts on the side, either. Yours is a Plycraft with those armrests. I have never seen one that is 3/4 size, though. What's the height at the back? | |||||
| First, the cord gets tangled | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| ... that have resulted from this. I don't know if laced or unlaced is more likely to do it. I don't think so. I think one of those--I never remember which--is just smoothed out after twisting, not twisted that much tighter. The way I have finally conquered it is to pull verrrrry carefully out of the center. I watch to make sure the cord is not catching on other loops and if it does I just undo it immediately. A lazy susan or other easily-spun device helps to keep the cord from twisting tighter as you weave but I don't think this has anything much to do with ... | |||||

Strong paint stripper didn't really take it off even (not the citrus stuff, the serious stuff). Had to sand them in the end, which is a pile of work for a bunch of chairs. | |||||

| Brown Saltman catalogs are... Brown Saltman catalogs are extremely hard to find. I've seen a photo of the cover of one. I remember reading that they had a policy of requiring the return of the old catalog before they'd send a new catalog, so dealers and such didn't have old catalogs laying around. And then the factory burned down taking all that documentation with it. | |||||

| Dennis I agree with you. Sorry, I probably used a bad example. I guess I don't like buying restored shell chairs because I can do the restoration myself. I have restored a shell chair and use it every day. When I got it, the foam was shot, the feet were broken, the mounts were peeling off, and the paint on the legs was chipping. There is nothing wrong with buying a restored chair. I buy shell chairs from time to time, fix a few things, and sell them. I didn't mean to make a negative statement when I said "I would not buy a restored HM shell chair." | |||||
