| Frem Rolje...with two dots over the "o" | 1 Relevance | 20 years ago | dcwilson | General discussion | |
| I believe I may have asked who this was, or what this means, was awhile back. It is marked on a Danish modern rope chair I have. I searched the DA forum and didn't find it. Could someone explain again what it might refer to? A desiger? A producer, which is what I vaguely recall? Thanks in advance. | |||||

| Modernica wire & shell chairs. | 1 Relevance | 20 years ago | loki | General discussion | |
| I have a few eiffel side chairs, made by vitra with the infamous plastic shell (which I enjoy a lot btw). I'm trying to furnish my home office with eiffel wire chair, and maybe a modernica fiberglass rocking chair. As much as I didn't care for the side chairs, I think the armchair looks better with a fiberglass shell. Due to "intellectual and copyright laws", modernica won't send them to europe and I find the 800+ euros Vitra is asking for the wire chair a bit too expensive for my liking, especially when the modernica version is $250. Are Modernica eiffel ba ... | |||||

| Is there a web site for unproduced designs? | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | dcwilson | General discussion | |
| My googling didn't show any. I am imagining a Web Site of Unproduced Designs, cross indexed by product type, decade, and designer name. Pictures and text. So many products and buildings have been designed and then not produced or built. We get scattered glimpses of this sort of thing in books about designers and architects, but I have always thought a web site dedicated to this sort of thing could be an inspiring and useful resource. I suspect a significant part of what is designed and architected is never realized. So many car designs are experimented with ... | |||||
| executive armless Saarinen question. | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | HPau | General discussion | |
| Was in a thrift store today and saw a chair identical to this, I knew it was something but was so tired I didn't really think about it. It was very sound. The legs however were solid tapers that were glued into a very solid frame, no bent laminations at all, very much like the chair with arms below, any ideas? It was 10 bucks. | |||||
| Arredoluce three lamp question. please help | 1 Relevance | 20 years ago | jay1002 | General discussion | |
| hi. I just purchased a three arm lamp by arredoluce. I didn't take long enough time inspecting the item, because I didn't suspect it could be a reproduction. but looking around now, it seems like there are reproductions of the model, and I worring mine might be one of them. Is there anyway to tell for sure if it is one? anyone who know the answer, please help me. If it is a repro, I need to return it as fast as possible. I was told it was made during 50's. the body and arm part is chrome, the base is also chrome. Thanks. | |||||
| Bertoia(ish) Wire-frame outdoor lounge chairs | 1 Relevance | 21 years ago | i spy fred | General discussion | |
| Looking for any ideas to identify these chairs. They look like Bertoia wire chairs but they are chaise lounges-- and as far as I can tell Bertoia didn't make a chaise. The deal is, I want to have cushions made and I'd like to duplicate the originals. Most wire frame chairs only have a seating pad-- obvioulsy for a chaise you'd want a little more. Any ideas? | |||||
| georg jensen - michelsen | 1 Relevance | 21 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| i saw cutlery in a home; it looked liked arne jacobsens cutlery; but on the back was mentioned 'michelsen - denmark' and a signature. and i didn't know the 'designer' michelsen. after surfing i found out that the signature is in fact arne jacobsens, that it is his cutlery and that michelsen was the producer. now it is georg jensen. is this correct? or are these two companies one and the same? if in fact these cutlery was made by michelsen, could they have some 'historical' value? | |||||

| Heywood Wakefield advice needed... | 1 Relevance | 21 years ago | dcwilson | General discussion | |
| I bought two Heywood Wakefield stepped end tables. Checked an HW vintage site and didn't see any tables like mine. No pics yet. But mine have rounds for legs and cross supports and they are fastened together by wicker. Also, they have rounds supporting the stepped upper level and the forward most round is bent and curves forawrd and up. What time period might these be from? | |||||
| Olive's Eames Shell Chairs...Finally! | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | Olive | General discussion | |
| After a looonnnngggg delay I have finally gotten everything together for those shell chairs I found. Life really got in my way this summer and I just didn't get this done, but now...TaDa! I have everything finished. Below is a link to Photobucket where I have uploaded shots of all the chairs top and bottom. Unfortunately, they really didn't upload in a sensible order, but they are all there. I also uploaded an image of the original colors so you can compare to what I've got. There are 27 chairs in all, none are in unusable condition, but some are better th ... | |||||

| ... chair" with a starting price of 95 USD. It's obviously a Burke. The seller didn't say Saarinen style or era or manner or any other of those words that hedge his/her bets. Do you think the seller wants/needs to know of their error? Or do you just let it slide? Is that just being snooty because you know more than they do, or is it truly a public service to educate them (and their potential buyers)? I kind of feel like the seller should be told. | Patrick and Alix had asked me earlier if I might like to do some blogging here at DA. I said yes, but was so overwhelmed with learning my new career that I just didn't get to it. Now, since things have changed, I can take some time for this. I have two major paths that I can consider writing about and I'd like all your opinions on which road you'd prefer me to take. I'm not saying that it's mututally exclusive, but just that I'd lean more one way than the other in the information I pass on to you all. First, I have spent a good deal of time over the last 3 o ... | |||||

I didn't note exactly when this change happened but it was pretty recent. It works fine for me in Chrome on my Macbook, and on my iPhone, though sometimes the formatting is wonky on my phone if I'm not logged in to the site. I don't own an iPad so can't help there. | |||||
