| Is this a genuine Arredoluce Triennale Lamp? | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | Jinx | General discussion | |
| Hi, I'm interested in this lamp at an auction but would love to know whether it is genuine or not. As soon as I saw it I thought it was an Arredoluce Triennale lamp but when I took a closer look I wasn't so sure. This obviously was made more difficult by the fact that somebody had taken the lampshades off the bars and then cable tied them on to the stand! It is definitely vintage, going by the old wiring and lamp fixings. However the shape of the lampshades are different, they're rounded on the top. The colours are also slightly different, this one is red ... | |||||

| tempted by this 'Danish' sideboard - but not its anonymity | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | cada | General discussion | |
| I really like this sideboard and it looks great quality with solid oak internal construction, but the price 1500 euros leaves me feeling that I ought to know the who and when about it....maybe it doesn't matter if you really like a piece, but I wouldn't spend that much on anything if I didn't know anything about it. Anyone got any ideas - I have done extensive web searching and book flicking - all to no avail, although I was wondering about Gunni Oman, but the handles seem wrong, or wondered if it was British? Thanks in advance anyone... | |||||

| ... one of them. I didn't really care that much; it was early and I was less interested in telling my 'story' to the cameras. I was more interested in seeing a Grasshopper chair and ottoman spotlighted on the show. I was given a modest valuation - $2,500.00. I also brought my Nicolas Vlavianos 1971 brutal sculpture ashtray in and the metals and sculpture table didn't know anything about the artist and they were noncommited about its value. No matter. I enjoyed going, not having to wait in line and I was out of there by 10:22AM! Interesting sidenote; The Keno b ... | |||||
| Did Plycraft Make Coffee Tables? | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | garlanre | General discussion | |
| Plycraft is famous for its chairs: the Eames knockoffs; the wonderful chairs with curved arms like rams' horns. But someone is claiming that these tables are Plycraft. I didn't know Plycraft made tables. Does anyone know whether these are the real deal and where I might find more information? Thanks. | |||||
| Very sad set of nesting tables/stools | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | ModineMod | General discussion | |
| I picked up this set of nesting tables recently because they were almost free and I thought there was something appealing about them. I didn't realize how sad a state they were in until I got them home, and now I'm wondering if they can be restored, and if so, if it's worth the time to do it. It appears that they were originally painted a very bright yellow, but have been painted over, poorly, in black. Some of the overspray is unfortunately on the woven tops (I'm not sure if this is jute or papercord or something else.) Any thoughts on the possibility of ... | |||||
| Blame it on dead people | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | glassartist | General discussion | |
| I've been stewing over this for a while now. I went to an estate sale roughly 7 weeks ago. Passed on a good set of designer chests in black with significant areas of finish loss all the way through to the very light colored wood. I did not want another project. Three days after the sale, the same cabinets appear for sale. The seller claims the previous owners touched them up with markers. Since the seller is not being deceptive about the repairs themselves, I don't think it is necessary to out them. But seriously, blaming your low rent cover up on dead peopl ... | |||||
| Where to buy Poul Kjaerholm? | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| Hello I am looking for a black Poul Kjærholm PK31 3 Seater sofa and a PK31 armchair. I have been browsing the different sites that offer these products, but I am not sure which of them are serious businesses and sell quality furniture. I looked at: xxx xxx xxx Which of these (if any) can be trusted? Do you have any other recommendations? (P.S. I am only looking for replicas 🙂 - can't afford the "real thing" from Fritz Hansen. To the editor: I thought I could write the names of the repro shops - as long as I didn't link to them. Edited by Design Addict: No li ... | |||||

| I've got this friend who's looking for well-designed cat furniture | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | william-holden-... | General discussion | |
| ... okay, it's ME. I can hardly believe it myself. I didn't even have a scratching post for the last cat, since I find cat paraphernalia such an eyesore, especially in a small apartment setting. I guess I'm becoming an old softy because I broke my rule for Julius and got him an inoffensive sisal scratching post about a year ago. He REALLY loves it-- especially balancing atop it, tumbling off whilst upside down, all sorts of crazy cat gymnastics. He has such fun on the thing, I'd almost kinda like to give him a bigger gym-- like those hideous "cat towers" t ... | |||||
| The worst ID thread ever | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | NULL NULL | Identification | |
| Because I have no picture. I went on an Eichler home tour today and one of the houses had an amazing collection of George Nelson clocks. There was one that I'd never seen. I'm not sure if it was a Nelson. It didn't have the classic Nelson hands. The tour didn't allow pictures, so here's the best I can do: the face was round and flat, the clock was suspended from the ceiling by a string and had a long "tail" off the back of it. It was suspended by the tail. Pretty unique. I tried google images and couldn't find it. I know that's a poor description, b ... | |||||
| Herman Miller Eames Elliptical Table Troubling Label. | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | henrybreen | General discussion | |
| ... I began to wander off, Googling several images of other examples of it (auctions for originals, new and used re-issues, knock-offs, etc.) After looking at quite a few, it struck me that the Herman Miller label under the table that I purchased, and haven't actually seen in person yet, didn't look like all the rest. I hadn't come across at least one exact match to it... font, capitalization, letter-spacing, white dot behind logo or even nails. I did catch the fact, from an earlier post in another thread, that later early/mid? 2000s labels, were me ... | |||||
