| Lounge Chairs ID Pearsall Style Legs | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | l1flafly | Identification | |
| I saw these chairs at the Swap Meet today, I didn't purchase them because they were so incredibly filthy. I did love the style of legs on these chairs. The legs remind me of some legs that his sofas had. My question is are these just generic period knock offs or are these by another designer? I check the bottom but they had obviously been reupholstered in that god awful fabric and had no original labels. Also they were 60 bucks for the pair and by the time I had circled around they were gone. Still not sure if I would have gotten them. Last note, the swoop ... | |||||
| Unusual purple(!) Paul McCobb chest | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | ATLviolette | General discussion | |
| ... Paul McCobb 20-drawer chest... in bright purple! I've been a fan of McCobb for years, but have never owned any of his pieces. I've seen this style of chest (I believe it is the Mr. and Mrs. Chest from the Planner Group) in a wood four-legged style and an iron six-legged style, but I like this one even more. My living room (currently gray and white) has been in desperate need of a bright pop of color, and luckily I didn't need to get anyone else's approval for the somewhat outrageous color. 🙂 I'm sure I overpaid ($2799), but I honestly adore the style an ... | |||||
| What is art to you? | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | slamfoot | General discussion | |
| I didn't want to interupt the Noguchi thread with my "I just don't get it" moment. I must admit that I am probably not qualified to speak to the artisitc nature of the Noguchi piece, nor can I wax poetic while trying, but I do have a reaction. Some art I get, others I don't. Noguchi, I don't. That's just me. But, the Noguchi base IS part of the art. My 2 cents. How we value art is what baffles me. We can teach an elephant or a chimp to splatter paint onto a canvas and sell for thousands. Is that art? Not to me. I have paintings on my wall, wood carving ... | |||||

| ... a fantastic nearly 9x12 Ege Rya rug,as it just didn't work where I was living for 14 years, but now that I have moved(here for 3 years) I sorely miss it,and it would've looked great in my present dining room.(didn't have one in the previous place). There's alot to be said for storage lockers,I guess! | |||||

| Are my $10 chairs real Marcel Breuer Cesca chairs? | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | Chicagoan | General discussion | |
| I picked up four of these chairs for $10 a piece but I'm unsure of whether they're authentic. They're very heavy, and seem pretty old. I've never seen Cesca chairs that have upholstry only on the bottom, but perhaps at one point they were made that way? Or maybe the previous owner didn't want to pay for re-caning the seat? Unsure. Thank you for your opinions! | |||||

The dimensions apparently fit: black enameled metal legs, 83"w x 42"d x 30.5"h Structure in steel. any thoughts? now here's link with pictures- (edited by DA - no link no sales please, thank you) | |||||
| Barcelona Table at thrift store | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | Tulipman | General discussion | |
| I was in a local thrift Friday and saw what I thought was an original Barcelona table priced at $40.00.Since I was in my compact car and have all the tables I could use,I didn't linger over it.I went back this morning before work to check out the other items and lo and behold,it was still there, albeit covered with knick knacks, etc.I was in the same room looking at other items when a person walked by me and rudely belched in my ear.I was temtped to ask"Did you get any on you?" Nonetheless,he went right to the table with a woman, and started hovering about, look ... | |||||
| Lounge chair id, possibly one for the Brits. | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | Jinx | General discussion | |
| I was wondering if anyone recognises this lounge chair. I found this one on a British dealer's website and I recently saw one on another dealers website with a gorgeous rosewood frame but I can't remember where I saw it - that's helpful I know! We've got a Gplan housemaster chair and I think this would go well with it. I've gone through all the Gplan images on the hwfurniture archive but I didn't find it. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone had any ideas? Thanks in advance. | |||||

| garbage warrior | 1 Relevance | 17 years ago | brnki (SVK) | General discussion | |
| Previous threads discussing social responsibility of designer made me think of a movie, I've seen just recently. It's called "garbage warrior" and it really raised lot's of questions in my head. Although I didn't like the look of every "earthship" built, I really like the approach based on experimenting with new ways of building.. finally what came out looked a bit like Gaudi's fairy-tale houses in Barcelona.. Did anyone see the movie and have some opinion on that? | |||||
| Places to go in NW NY | 1 Relevance | 17 years ago | Modernrover@gmail.com | General discussion | |
| Hello all I'll be in the Lake Ontario area at the end of the month, Rochester, Watertown, Syracuse, Thousand Islands area and potentially the Canadian areas around there. And probably most parts in-between as I'll have a rental car while I'm there. Are there any great modern sites to see, and/or shopping locales that I must go to? didn't know if there were any open flea markets or thrift shoppes, modern stores in the areas including Kingston, CA or Ottawa, CA, as I'm not sure if we'll make it to Toronto or Montreal. Thanks for any guidance! | |||||
| Girard Chairs at Rago | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | zepp02 | General discussion | |
| Rago had 4 Girard Lounge Chairs and several sofas that didn't sell at last weeks auction. In an earlier forum thread I saw that Lunchbox had recently acquired one on ebay. I am working on shipping mine and was wondering if anyone knows if the chairs brakedown for shipping and what the dimensions would be. http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/6311081 | |||||
