| DCM plucked from the trash | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | Abigail | General discussion | |
| My husband caught a glimpse of a trashpile out of the corner of his eye this afternoon and lo and behold, a DCM. Originally he didn't see the seat, but a little digging turned it up. I always hear about other people's awesome finds and bargains, and now I've got my first one! Now I can spend the rest of the night reading up on DCMs and old designaddict threads about restoration ("Don't you dare even touch it!" or "Do as much as you need to get the most enjoyment!") All in all, its conditions is not in too bad and I love th ... | |||||
| Energy saving / LED-bulb for Eileen Gray lamp? | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | sebhoff | General discussion | |
| Hi Forum, I'm new here - and I hope this is the right place to ask my question. I didn't find anything in the archives... I've just bought myself an Eileen Gray Jumo table lamp - see (random) link below for a description of the model. I'm now looking for energy saving bulbs that can be used in this lamp. I've seen some tube-like bulbs (S19?) that seem to fit nicely, but ideally, I'd really like to use LEDs. Can anyone point me to a suitable product? All the LEDs I've looked at seem to be too big for the lamp... Many thanks in advance! Sebastian | |||||
| Paul McCobb Bowtie Chairs? | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | applesnkids | General discussion | |
| We've been using these as our dining chairs for quite a few years now. I bought them from someone who reupholstered the seats in a white vinyl, easy to wipe with kids. When I bought them, I noticed a stamp on the bottom of the chairs that said "Linden." I didn't really think anything of them, besides the fact I liked the set, so I bought it. Fast forward to today. I was doing some research on a Paul McCobb chair and came across the bowtie chair manufactured by Calvin. I might be wrong, but it seems a LOT like my chairs I own. They have no other markings besi ... | |||||
| Sofa ID | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | artsnot | General discussion | |
| I am wondering if anyone might recognize this sofa? It looks similar to pieces by Edward Wormley/Dunbar, Harvey Probber, and Paul McCobb, but I haven't found any examples that quite match. I know the photo is not great quality, but I didn't take it and it's the only image I have. The sofa is a piece that I am planning to take a look at and was hoping that someone might be able to ID it so that I can decide if it's worth the trip, as it's in definite need of reupholstering. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. | |||||

| ... paid for the shipping and insurance costs already. Seller gave me the contact info of the shipping company. Shipping company would not work directly with me because they claim that their customer was the seller since he's the one that dropped off the items and paid for the insurance and shipping. In order for them to file a claim, the seller would have to submit our transaction invoice. Also, shipping company said in the end the insurance check would go out to the seller instead of me because he's their direct customer. I find this part really hard to under ... | |||||
| Maurizio Tempestini for Lightolier | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | brbeard | General discussion | |
| Hi, Does anyone have a scan of the ad that shows the three lamps (in this series) that Maurizio Tempestini designed for Lightolier in 1953? I saw the ad years ago in an ebay listing and I guess I didn't save it... I've only seen two of the three lamps and I'd just love to know what that third lamp looks like! | |||||
| Facebook Eames swapping page! | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | Grendel_The_Cat | General discussion | |
| Hi everyone! I'm putting together a Facebook page for swapping Eames parts. I recently bought a base on ebay and when I commented that 'butterscotch' would really appreciate it, the seller got excited because it was a color he was collecting. We couldn't make a swap (he didn't have colors I am collecting), but it got me thinking about all the extra parts we have and rather than buying and selling (and paying ebay fee's!) swapping could be fun! I'm a total FB idiot, so frankly I'm not sure if you have to be my friend to see the page or not, so I was hoping ... | |||||
| Help!!!! Urine stain and smell on my Eames lounge chair!! | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | kin1117 | General discussion | |
| The title itself says it all. I got an Eames lounge chair that needed some structural work. I got it at a cheap price and probably because of that I didn't inspect it thoroughly enough. The cushions looked fine except for a torn zipper on one of them. In fact, I didn't smell anything even when I lifted it down the stairs and into the car. Upon inspecting the chair cushions up close at home, I noticed an intense smell of urine on the seat and lower back cushions. I suspect it's the owner's dog's doing gone unnoticed. Here's the damage. Seat cushion has horrib ... | |||||
| Kantarelli table by Aarnio | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | Cream and Chrome | General discussion | |
| ... else has anyone got anything to add regarding the correspondence I've had by email below?: "Hi there, Just had a look at your Aarnio table. I have Kantarelli dining/side tables and unfortunately I am sure your table is not right. Originals have underneath the base flat fibreglass in the same colour. There should not be any ring shape or difference in colour to the top. Also if you compare the fibreglass under the table connecting to the stem you can see that the white of the stem has not aged with the fibreglass of the table. Anyway, thought this might be o ... | |||||

| ID - lattice top bench | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | HPau | Identification | |
| I don't like all the ID/value threads but I think this one came from Gene? Arthur? A while ago there was a bench with a lattice top and KD screws going through the top into the leg that I remember Robert said he didn't like, produced by an outfit called Lovig, according to this anyway. http://redmodernfurniture.com/2010/09/20/sculptural-teak-bench-by-lovig-2/ | |||||
| Are there reproductions of Pearsall coffee tables? | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | Weeman | General discussion | |
| I googled it and didn't really see anything, unlike the Wassily chair I recently purchased. I picked up 2 end tables and a coffee table that look like these for $60. I'm hoping they're real! | Hiya, I seem to keep coming across Dansk pieces which are being listed and sold as vintage and their not as they are in the current catalogue. I was given a piece a couple days ago shown in the photo below and wonder how to date it. I've seen a couple mentioned online but they didn't have the bowls so I'm not even sure if the bowls go with the wooden piece or not. The bottom is marked "Dansk Design Denmark IHQ" | |||||
| Nelson Pedestal Restoration Help | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | reactcreative | General discussion | |
| Hey all - Picked up this Nelson Pedestal coffee table last night. The owner didn't know what she had, and knew nothing about the table. She did say that it was old and she got it from a school she had worked at. I wasn't sure what the deal with the tube was, but when I got home I disassembled it and it looks to me like someone replaced the center tube of the pedestal with a steel pipe. Not sure why someone would do this, how someone might break it that it might need to be repaired. I assume this is not some sort of prototype as the label on the table see ... | |||||
