| I'm terribly sorry, I *tried* to post the pictures, and hit upload, but they didn't come through? Ah! I see the problem was they were too large...mea culpa, and apologies again. I love this site and didn't mean to waste anyone's time. Here is an imgur album with the photos in glorious full resolution: https://imgur.com/a/XDnpQ Thank you! | |||||

| Thanks for the response again Zephyr! I will be able to provide a bunch of photos at day's end. I didn't find any marker on one chair. I will investigate further later. Man, idk... something looks odd to me! I would say if I had to peg my concern... it's the way the back slats meet the main seat frame. Why that spacing?! Maybe the dark stain filled the gap and looks for previlant?I'm sorry, my terminology is incorrect. This passion is so recent that I have MUCH to learn. I frequent this site daily and it's truly amazing the amount of knowledge "y'all" have! ... | |||||

| it just sits on it, or in it I guess. It could be a later addition but I really doubt it. The CONCRETE thingy has marks on the bottom that correspond to where it sits on the wood, so it had to sit there for a bit methinks. I'll scour it one more time for any kind of makers' mark but i'll be darned if I could find anything. The person who I bought it from was a packing genius. So happy it didn't get damaged in transit. | |||||

| yeah, I noticed that about the depression. I'll look at it closer. No idea who made it and cannot find a mark anywhere. Sort of Mabel Hutchinson? But not Mabel Hutchinson. I seem to like brutalist things. I like materials. I like seeing them, in this case wood and cement. The nature of this appeals to me at a very basic level ....of course the wife didn't like it but it will grow on her. She trusts my taste In my opinion it's a very well done thing EDIT - Yeah, church font makes alot of sense | |||||

| Yup. I had one once. It didn't agree with my slender 5'...10" frame (152lbs)..so I gave it to a friend. I think it had/has an ottoman?? Red cloth. The chair reeked of sex (to me). Porn. Hi, Aunt Mark | |||||

| I'm curious about that word | 1 Relevance | 9 years ago | Spanky | Identification | |
| I'm curious about that word too. I translated "front" on google and it said "front" in Norwegian, which didn't sound right at all so I had it translate the phrase "front of chair" and then it used the word "foran". So I think foran is correct for both Danish and Norwegian, at least based on that snippet of information. Swedish is fr | |||||

| Thank you for replies. I'm in Denmark now and bought this years back from a guy in his late 50' who inherit it from his father. He ment that all parts were original:-) This chair is not just beautiful it's also amazing to sit in. The comfort is really good. I tried to search Erik Buch chairs but didn't find it:-) | |||||

| Hi minimoma, I'd say they are molded. The texture of the glass, with the small bubbles, is exactly as the glass pieces from the Kalmar Tulipan lamps. So Kalmar was my first guess, but an online research on Kalmar didn't bring up my model. | |||||

| Hey, i bought plenty of near-worthless pieces when I was starting out. It was very good experience to practice on them and learn what worked and what didn't. I have also restored some rather high end stuff and endured a lot of stress in making sure everything was done correctly, and well. I say go for it! I use Star-Brite Teak Oil from Ace Hardware but there are other products that are just as good. Everyone has their favorite. Plycraft lounge chairs had a tinted clear finish of some sort on the wood (see above) that I guess was intended to even out th ... | |||||
| The big versions of two of | 1 Relevance | 9 years ago | Spanky | Identification | |
| The big versions of two of the photos clearly show a tinted clear finish of some kind on the underside. I don't know what was on these chairs originally but given how this tinted finish didn't quite reach some tight spots in some joints and its uneven look in other areas, I'd guess it's not original. The scratch could have been touched up with any one of a number of products made for that kind of thing (which rarely live up to their hype!) You can test the finish pretty easily and go from there if you want to refinish the chair. Nail polish remover (aceto ... | |||||
| I second the home made vote. | 1 Relevance | 9 years ago | Spanky | Identification | |
| I second the home made vote. That was a thing back in the 60s, diY modern furniture, because it didn't have all the details of antique-style stuff. It was do-able. Those screw-on legs were really popular and were widely available. I remember my mom getting some when I was a little kid back then, though her creation was a piece of plywood mosaiced with the chips from paint brochures, with legs on it. We thought it was quite stylish. The cleats on the bottom of yours are to strengthen and stabilize the top, which is just planks glued together....right, ... | |||||
| Hi, | 1 Relevance | 9 years ago | dsgnaddct | Identification | |
| Hi, I was being somewhat flippant with the sadness comment, any "disappointment" was due to the size it takes up as opposed to the money. It measures 70cm wide by 94cm high so is quite a hefty chair. I agree it will look better with a cushion, unfortunately they didn't have any original cushions for guidance, and I cant find it online, but I was thinking about putting just a seat cushion (the base has wooden slats), thanks for the suggestion re sizes. | |||||
