| I don't see "almost every" carmaker following that unfortunate "lead" -- though Cadillac has followed their own more disciplined version of it through several years of one-offs and production vehicles. I saw an STS (?) sedan today that I've thought puled it off fairly well.' Would you say Constantin Grcic's chair and stool are examples? (I'm reminded of those third-decade Czeck "cubist" vessels that re-emerged a few years back. . .) But the worst BMW's -- the big sedans and the nasty little roadster -- are. . .pathetic. (The chief "designer" rattled on ... | |||||

To some extend the battle for less public property and more private is a battle to contribute to growth, not by increasing the output but by moving public property to a different column. A public school does not count in economic growth because it is a cost. A private school has a turnover and contributes to BNP. And so we see relentless attempts to move activities to where it ...

Size and volume are of course dictated by the function but in spite of that I made sure that the nested bowls (one inside the other) would form one horizontal line without the rings and a regular progression with the rings. This time Rosti was happy!...and, in hind sight maybe too happy. Although my effort had been toward creating an less expensive alternative to the existing Bjorn/Bernadotte bowls and in spite of the fact that they were indeed less expensive to make and required less raw materials and less stratification time, Rosti's ma ...

| Thanks Thanks for all your feedback. I appreciate the time. I did purchase the desk and chair, because I have been wanting the set for a long time and didn't want to deal with Ebay hassles for a large item. I'm a novice at buying vintage, as you probably guessed, so your comments are very helpful! I think the local market dictates price also, and in my area, great deals are hard to find, unfortunately! | |||||

Unless it is specified in the selling contract it does not give him the right to include a recognizable part of the music or lyrics in his own music.Under which other conditions these rights to use are transferred is up to the two parties involved. As far as Shooter's comment is concerned, I fail to see why the function of the invention or creation should make a difference. Right now, music, both lyrics and the music, all kinds of texts, from simple instructions to literature, from scientific p ...

They informed me that Knoll only produce polished stainless steel frames in the US. This is supposedly for environmental reasons. So, all Knoll european BCNs are chrome plated. The original in 1929 were chrome plated, but polished steel will age better and IMO has a nicer, softer lustre to it. The knoll guy pointed out some main points of difference with their model: - the leather. This can be achi ...

The Atlantis is recognized as one of the two most important American structures that serves to define the Post Modern Movement that was born in the early Eighties. Paralleled only by Michael Graves? Portland Building of the same year, Its design symbolizes the reactionary break from the Modernist idiom that had dictated the International Landscape from the 1930s to the late 1970s. | Is compressing micro-veneers | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | tktoo | General discussion
| Is compressing micro-veneers into unnatural shapes the highest and best use of rare hardwoods? One could argue the case. It is certainly in our nature as humans to impose order on the randomness of the natural world. We need our point of reference established so that we may have confidence in our foundation, yet the eye of the soul yearns for forms that echo nature. A fair curve or an unexpected twist, perhaps. Some relief from the rigid dictates of milled materials. | |||||

I have seen a dining table in the same materials and the vendor described it as olive burl( there is a small repair necessary on one of them ). since I will probably use ebay to sell them, how much to you think I should expect them to sell for? You just need to get the right fabric, which can be harder to do from a conventional upholsterer because they usually order from companies that make whatever the mainstream market dictates. However, it's easy to get the good stuff on Ebay, Modern-Fabrics.com and some other places, you just have to know what you're looking for. You can start by ordering swatches from Maharam and Knoll. As long as the frame is stable and free of damage, the original leather would be desirable, but not that big a deal if you had to restore or reupholster the chair. Most people realize that upholstery is fugitive and subject to change if use, wear or damage dictates. However, the thing that gives me pause is that it is an armless side chair intended to be used at a table or desk. It's not a nice easy chair that you can relax in, or that can be prominently displayed in your main living space. It does not have the same degree ...

| "What makes modern design so striking is it's simplicity or you could even say humility." That's a really weird argument.... Modern design is what it is because fashion dictates what it is. All modern design is consumerism, we don't actually need any new design. Are you saying this about ALL modern design? | |||||
