| Alessi Tendentse enquiry Hi dick, Unfortunately I have had no response from anyone regarding the value of these vases. Alessi was totally uninterested and unhelpful regarding this. I guess I will just enjoy them with no other consideration. Let me know if you find out anymore information. | |||||

Embed a computer chip and some teen batteries and the flexible ceramic product will be able to have light patterns programmed into it. Better yet, maybe they'll be able to figure out a way to literally make the flexible ceramic morph into a variety of programmed shapes, maybe even a randomized morphing routine. No, I don't know how electric current passing through flexible ceramics will be able to effect morphing, but what the heck? I'm having a P.K. dick kind ...

| cont. I could go on like this for a while but what I wanted to say most is that it pleases me greatly to see your entrepreneurial spirit. The other day, reading dick's post on who could help him with a logo for his soon to open store made me expect that dozens of graphics students would jump on the opportunity to add to their portfolio the graphic identity of a high quality kitchenstore in Sweden. To my surprise, nothing of that kind happened. So consider yourself one of these exceptions. I am sure you will succeed. One last point maybe. On your site you off ... | |||||

| ... but we decided not to in the end. The colour is very good for dining rooms and kitchens, so it is a perfect colour I stumbled upon. More by luck, thinking of company colours in general. Orange not one being used that often. I've got some logo ideas, from Koen, and I like them. He has not chose to work with a rounded font, but it works really good. Using a more standard heavy font in black, and then some different ideas where orange is used in the "supplementary" illustration parts. We will be very careful when we decorate our shop - so it is very helpful wi ... | |||||

| Food colors This is the first time I've read this thread, interesting topic! dick, I am a color person, I spend a lot of time thinking about color and it's emotional impact. It's a very personal thing, but some universal truisms do seem to apply. For instance, when I am helping my clients select colors for a kitchen I always steer them towards 'food colors' and away from blues, beiges or muddy tones. Orange is a such a perfect food color as it is also a food! So I think it is a great choice for your shop. So would be yellow, green, red and the always popula ... | |||||
| Aim and style | 1 Relevance | 20 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| Aim and style At this moment we are about to design our shop, but I will try to give you a picture of what we are after. We will start this kitchenware shop in a small/medium sized town in Sweden. It is a town growing hence our idea to make it a stylish shop. We will try to sell quality brands - also desginer stuff. Focusing on kitchenware and things you need to make your day in the kitchen, we hope to attract people who 1: LOVE working in the kitchen. 2: Enjoy spending money on good quality stuff. As it is not a major city, we have to blend exclusive stuff with some more mainstream products too. In the future I hope to expand - maybe to find new products/design with no Swedish representation, and become agent for some brands. The shop we will run is sized 85 square meter. It has two windows, and a door between them. We have contacted an interior designer who will help us decorate the shop with the colour orange as major colour. Having found this site really makes this kitchenware shop idea grow. I will come here often for inspiration and perhaps new contacts too. Any information and help appreciated. Thanks in advance! At the time of IGY, in part because society labored under the imminent specter of the mushroom cloud, escape through scientificism (the ideology and religion of science, not science itself) made a kind of reassuring, circular sense. Science seemed to have gotten us into the nuclear nightmare. Surely, it would be science that would get us out of it, too. It was all hooe ... | |||||

| Although I have not yet seen the film, I happened to catch the director being interviewed (Charlie Rose, PBS [USA] ) shortly before the film appeared. I learned that Gehry chose Pollack because his photos of Bilbao (and other FG works ?) were the ones Gehry liked best. Were the two friends as well ? I understand that FG is beginning to explore his "next step." I have no problem with any artist working repeatedly with a particular vocabulary until he has exhausted its possibilities. Richard Meier did the same. The "orthogonal" parts of Gehry's work are re ... | |||||

I really believe if designer dick Teague had gotten a chance to design the car from scratch, he would have made a narrower car that would have kept the Pacer from becoming the oversquare laughing stock it became. The basic silouette from the side seems strikingly right to me. And at one time I believe the car was conceived to have a rotary engine or a flat four nestled under that low hood. Of course the interior was ghastly and the car was dynamically awful. And it set too high on its wheels for the look Teague was after because of the i ...

And I agree with Martin that Berteau's Fence Chair, while not one of the ugliest chairs I have ever seen (frequenting thrift stores I see some REAL grotesqueries) is, nevertheless, a dumb conceit that Berteau will one day (if he survives and develops greatly)look back on and scoff at, the way, say, author Herman Melville, after growing into the writing of Moby dick, disowned and scoffed at his popular first book, Typee, as the work ...
