| ... go through all the junk to find the great one, so do not be pissed at your self, it could have just as easy been the one you were looking for as it could have been a fake, The best thing to do if you are really passionate about MCM is read up on all the main designers of the 50s 60s 70s cause those are the main players, They are timeless and collectible and you can never really get hurt buying there stuff, some of the lesser knowns are hard to follow, I hate to say it but I ... | |||||

| Why not just find a local... Why not just find a local specialist dealer and sell it to him/her? With a specialist you should get 50 - 60% of 'top' (but not 1st dibs obviously) retail price. Good to hear I'm not the only one disenchanted by the way Ebay is going - I remember fondly the days when it was really quite exciting to sit down in front of the computer on a Monday to see all the great stuff listed on Sunday night. Madelaine's approach to Ebid sounds like very good sense. I guess the very fact people have heard of it means it may yet challenge the evi ... | |||||
| If you mean the Kite Lamp | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | barrympls | General discussion | |
| If you mean the Kite Lamp it has attributed to George Nelson Associates! Someone sold one at 1st dibs as a Nelson lamp, so until someone says otherwise,I believe it. The wooden pull is a small version of the natural wood ball on the ball clock. I've seen them with different color schemes on the shade, can you take a snap of yours? Is the strayed inside plastic in good condition? Mine's a bit cracked. Check out the link below (which I just found) http://www.organicorigin.co.uk/lighting_details.asp?product=George%20Nel... | |||||

| ... close to it's MSRP the next time around. As a side note, a sale like that truly illustrates what a raging rip off some of these 1st dibs dealers are. I would bet that a dealer bought that very chair and plans to sell it for treble the profit. As for modernreproductions, they seem to use stock photos of FH produced PK-31s. That's a bad sign right there. I reccommend that you avoid such merchants. 12 grand is shockingly expensive for that chair, I agree, but that doesn't make 2 grand for a Chinese made clunker a savvy deal, despite what some turkeys might tel ... | |||||

| Reggiani This is the one for me. Not in my home but I wish it was. Large Reggiani egg lamp. Italian styling and a good old 60s 70's egg shape. Out of my price range as I found it on 1st dibs at $3000. | |||||

| Jobie... why don't you email off directly? You know what you paid and what you think they're worth. I would be interested in the Platner coffee table for a price less than what people at 1st dibs are trying to get for it. Barry (barrymn1@msn.com) | |||||

| ... in an actual store though. A new mid-century modern shop just opened up about a mile down the road. I spent several hours over the weekend in there looking around and talking to the owner. I told her about all the websites to visit for good deals on fabric, advice, etc. She actually wants me to be her internet person and she'll give me deals on her furniture. Now that's the life, getting better prices on pieces for hanging out on the 'net. I also do other things with my time. I'm a chemist. I also play the guitar. I read constantly.
