| Googling "Fritz Hansen wire chairs," this chair shows up twice in the first 30 pages: the set at Treadway, and this single office chair at 1st dibs. In both cases the design is "attributed" to or "in the style of" Vernor Panton . . . which means they don't know who designed it. http://www.1stdibs.com/furniture_item_detail.php?id=294879 | |||||

| Brent, is he really not trainable? It took me 3 years to semi-train mine and I really had to stress the money aspect, i.e. Look, honey, at this chair I bought today for $85 AND HERE IT IS ON 1ST diBS FOR $2000. But now he is a hunter, as well, even though he has a penchant for picking up gross 70's plastic stuff off of a flea market table and thinking I will like it. Um, no, honey, good try, though! | |||||

| yes.... there's a very wide range of value. I like 1st dibs for furniture research, but I know the prices are off the map for what most people could get for something...as they say, it's worth what someone is willing to pay...... | |||||

| He has a nelson swag side... He has a nelson swag side table for just under 1K! You can find the same ones on ebay listed simultaneously for 300-500 bucks! Does he not even see this??? Does he really think eBay can get 1st dibs prices!!! The actual store is only 3 hours from me, and he does get in some great stuff but damn. I would never buy from this greedy moron. | |||||

| Funny you should say that... I was always intimidated by 1st dibs, thinking it was solely for NY designers and their clients with tons of money, etc., but I just took a look at one of their items and I'll be damned if it wasn't my old set of 2 bamboo tables I sold last year to the local Scottsdale consignment shop for a total of probably less than $100! Whereas 1st dibs is claiming their tables are from the 50's...I know my tables (identical if not THE EXACT TABLES) were from the 70's or more likely 80's, but 1st dibs had done theirs up in some sort of "silv ... | |||||

| Reprolover, in all seriousness, you are mistaken in thinking that the majority of design addicts on this forum are all members of the The Lucky Sperm Club and are sitting around spending their trust funds on 1st dibs. We are serious hunter-gatherers who have done our homework and slog around to fairs, second hand shops, garage sales, even the stray magic dumpster, constantly searching for bargains of REAL, vintage pieces. I have never bought anything brand new from DWR or Vitra or Modernica in my life. For me, it all about finding something fabulous amongs ... | |||||

| -I was too quick... It's... -I was too quick... It's not an extra long unit, but simply an ESU 100 w sliding doors, standing next to a small 1-unit w drawers... I didn't know this collection had been brought up before. It's really tiring to read through all posts from uneducated dealers and others who want to know what their stuff is worth, just to make a quick buck on ebay a few days later. The internet messes with peoples expectations on how much their stuff is worth. They check 1st dibs prices and think they are sitting on a fortune. They don't have the e ... | |||||

| Illusion Antiques do not have a defined "worth" as per se. There are many contributing factors to what prices are commanded, and by whom in what situations. The numbers you see on 1st dibs for instance are totally misleading, first of all almost all sales on 1st dibs are "to the trade" which means that the average discount of the marked prices is 20% right off the bat. Second of all, I have seen pieces sit on 1st dibs for years (literally), these dealers can, and will, wait for their sale to come in. Second of all location plays a role, take a look at auctio ... | |||||

| ... the Westside of Los Angeles. Why? I have no idea, in that, there has been an encounter with a few Rhode fans who have the same unit but in a different market where values are much lower. From my knowledge this was designed in the 1930's and was part of a set for a California manufacturer Brown Saltman. There were many great overlooked designers from that firm. In terms of rarity I have seen the walnut credenza a few times in other peoples blogs. If you are and have come to be a fan of his work please purchase the book "Gilbert Rohde: Modern Design for Moder ... | |||||

| It's missing the bottom... It's missing the bottom shelf under the narrow part of the top, it is the same table as the one displayed on the first dibs site, with the lower tray. Alas, this one is missing. | |||||
