| I saw this on Ebay shortly af... I saw this on Ebay shortly after it was listed. It was a $950 Buy It Now, with $150 for shipping. So, $1100. It would have hurt, from a budgetary standpoint, but I guess I could have done it. It sold just a few moments later to someone else, and I see it is now on 1st dibs, with the same stained upholstery, for $4400. | |||||

| the bidding got up to $115 an... the bidding got up to $115 and I chose to stop bidding. Based on everyones opinions on them being ugly I gather it will not be easy to resell and the prices on them very from $10-3,000 i guess there is a sucker borne every minute and today I chose not to be that sucker. Mostly due to checking ebay and seeing a lamp going for 9.00 that I have seen on first dibs priced at $1,600! and only one bid! HAH! I will find another set for less im sure. | |||||

| sonambient Those are called sonambient. don't get to excited yet, I have one, and I know it is not a real Bertoia. The greedy guys in NYC or 1st dibs will sell it attributed to Harry Bertoia and get a decent price. but nothing what it would be if it was a true Bertoia. If you paid nothing for it,(Under $2000.00 ) 99%of the time it will be nothing, just a nice reproduction. You are hoping for the 1% to hit the jackpot like a Jackson Pollock at a flee market, or Warhol painting in a attic.or Geor ... | |||||
| Buy Low Sell High | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | realtime | General discussion | |
| Buy Low Sell High "Buy low sell high" is the fundamental basis of the entire antiques/vintage market, there are plenty of reality shows that can testify to that fact. In addition you can be guaranteed that most pieces in any high end vintage/antiques dealer, gallery or "1st dibs" has been worked on to achieve its "pristine" condition status. The sense that "addicts" in this thread are shocked, dismayed or threatened by that universal reality is either denial or ignorance. Wake up addicts, there's thousands of dollars worth of item "flipping" occurring on eb ... | |||||
| I have a Pier One chair as well as a vintage chair. | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | DjL | General discussion | |
| ... are some differences. Most noticeable is the finish. The older chair has a wrought iron frame and the Pier One has a speckled lacquer top coat. The feet are different as well. Cain Modern on 1st dibs has this chair listed as a "Hendrick Van Keppel and Taylor Green Wicker Chair" for $1,400 I would like to know for sure who designed/manufactured the original chair. Thanks, DjL | |||||

| You're right cali | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | vintage damage | General discussion | |
| You're right cali I saw one that had the same pulls on 1st dibs but I have been in such a hurry that I dismissed them as being brushed stainless and smaller while mine are chrome. They are pretty freakin' lame. The proportion is all wrong. Anyway,I do appreciate the info, good to know. Anyone with those wood shingle handles on a beat dresser should contact me. | |||||
