| Object Worship- You've missed the point to jump to your own prejudice. I wouldn't bemoan Goodwill for having a Danish piece priced right for the location and condition. Meaning this place isn't 1st dibs. But you don't find anything there anymore. And that's because it is going out the back door with either employees or to dealers who have greased a managers palm. And their dollar store garbage priced at 5.99 is ridiculous. So it is probably frowny faced antique dealers who are getting it for pennies on the dollar versus a retail public who might be willing ... | |||||

Even the early photos of the Zanuso Lady chair seem to show the very cylindrical legs, rather than tapered legs that these auction pieces have. You do see see chairs with the tapered legs, but even on 1st dibs some of those are described as "in the style of Zanuso". Clearly I don't know anything definitive, but the pieces seem problematic to me. | |||||

| I agree with Spanky that the chair shown on 1st dibs is almost certainly not oak. I do not know what the wood is, but it looks like maple. The 1st dibs chair is claimed to be one that was owned by Chase Manhattan. It is problematic in that the arms and backrest appear to be made not of three distinct pieces of wood that have been finger-jointed together, but rather the arms and backrest are made of multiple pieces of wood that have been laminated together, with numerous glue joints. This is typical of knock-off furniture, since large pieces of hardwood a ... | |||||

| Found out the table was designed by Bendt Winge for Kleppes Mobelfabrikk (Norway). sold by International Designers Group? It looks like they made a few different models. the one I have is a section of an Interlocking set, as seen here on 1st dibs. http://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/tables/drop-leaf-tables-pembroke-tables... (not for sale) A lengthy post on etsy says this was designed in 1956. Kleppes Mobelfabrikk is still in business. That would date IDG as a retailer to the fifties... possibly? | |||||

| you have the correct chair. o... you have the correct chair. on google if you hit steelcase Warren platner that chair pops up.. On 1st dibs they all say warren platner some sights say Gardner Leaver . Metro Retro on 1st dibs list 8 chairs for sell just like them by Gardner Leaver. I talked to steel case in Chicago. They have no idea, as that chair made in the early 70's has always been know as both Warren planter, and Gardner Leaver. It just depends what salesmen you get. Now I am really confused. | |||||

| Thanks for that. I'd... Thanks for that. I'd looked into his design first, as it was one of the more popular in recent times. However, his seems to be much better made. This design is fairly clunky (practical?) in comparison. It definitely looks later. Maybe it's by the same manufacturer, after Robsjohn Gibbings? There's a picture below that's very similar, but given 1st dibs history it could have just as easily been misappropriated to RG on 1st dibs? http://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/seating/chairs/pair-of-robsjohn-gibbing... | |||||

| ... the desk available on 1st dibs nor the one on Etsy has it. While the extra piece is great for holding magazines, it was designed to hold individual pieces of paper while they were being copied - as in a letter or other piece of correspondence. The slatted, open grid creates negative pressure and you'll see that if you put a piece of paper on the stand while its on the desk, the paper will not slip, slide or move. Ingenious! I love this little gadget, it seems so well thought out and designed and as I said it seems to be something of a rarity. Mine luckily c ... | |||||

| ... so short! Probably yet another creative 1st dibs offering? I bet the guy still has the top of the return stashed away somewhere in his back room, if you wanted to approach him about it. I can see how the return would not make sense to try to sell as a stand-alone piece, as it would have no support for the top surface on one long end that rested on the desk surface. But it would be awkward to approach the guy, because to inquire you would essentially be saying his listing was at best an error or at worst totally bogus. Especially if he still had the rest of ... | |||||

| Very odd I looked again at the swag leg desks which are listed on 1st dibs and noticed that only one of the four has the colored dividers in the top. Two say they are rosewood and one appears to be black. I have the Herman Miller catalog and pricer from when they were introduced in 1958, and neither there nor in either of the Nelson books is any other configuration offered or even mentioned. Two of the desks are from dealers in Germany and Italy. Vitra has been producing Herman Miller product in Europe since the 1950s and it is very common to see slight dif ... | |||||
