| best black lacquer technic | 1 Relevance | 17 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| Hi could someone please describe how to best refinish wood furniture in a black lacquer finish. I see so many pieces that have been refinished in a black lacquer from the original wood finish with varying results. Most dealers on Ist dibs will simply say "newly refinished" or "restored" without any mention of how exactly they restored or refinished. I think it is safe to assume that dealers are going the easiest or sometimes the only route by slapping on some black stuff to cover prior damage. My real point though is, I want to refinish s ... | |||||

| Paul Evans Sculptured Metal Collection | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | barrympls | General discussion | |
| I got a 24 page brochure of Paul Evans' amazing "Sculptured Metal" collection from the directional Furniture company. It's strangely beautiful stuff, but there's next to nothing on the web about this important designer/artist. Nothing on this website, either. This is high end, expensive furniture, even at the time, and it commands 1st dibs-level prices. Any opinions? also, nothing about him at Wikipedia, which is no surprise because of all the cool stuff at Wikipedia, there's scant articles on mid-century designers and furniture companies of the 1950's/1960 ... | |||||

| Brno Chair | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | brownshoe | General discussion | |
| ... need this chair, and it wouldn't fit in with my home decor, I find myself attracted to it (even though it would probably end up in my office.) What would be a reasonable (realistic) price on this chair? FWIW they also have a beautiful rosewood & glass desk that is of excellent quality and build (solid wood, dovetailed drawers, etc...) for $900. I can't find a maker's mark on it, but I'm sure it would be $8K + on 1st dibs. | |||||

He always signed every thing so if you think you got your hand on any of his things make sure you fi ... | |||||

| Found it - Heron Rocking | 1 Relevance | 10 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| Found it - Heron Rocking Chair by Mitsumasa Sugasawa for Tendo Mokko. VERY nice! I love the dresser, too. I wonder if the sticker is just a moving company thing? It's about the size and shape of the ones they use to keep shipments together. eta: one of the dibs listings says that the chairs are oak with rosewood accents! I'm a little green with envy but always happy to know that people are still getting great stuff for nothing. | |||||
