| ... up for making a huge profit -- I really enjoy interesting, unique pieces. Keep, sell...either way I'd love to know what I have. These images from 1st dibs are better than anything I could capture. Legs, design and finish all the same. There are no markings that I can see, but this sucker is heavy. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. (edited by DA - link removed - pictures added) | |||||
| Walter Lamb Design.............? | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | mario | General discussion | |
| I was out to an estate purchase of a large George Nelson executive desk. The sales agent had sold most everything to the neighbors who were given first dibs on the contents of house. To my amazement a small group of Walter Lamb outdoor furniture was left behind, which i excitedly purchased for a modest sum. I love the designs but cant find much about the design career of Walter Lamb, aside from him designing outdoor bronze furniture produced by Brown Jordan from 40's-50's. Would anybody have any information about this designer and his design work? Thanks! ... | |||||
| American of Martinsville and george nelson? | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | WaywardVintage | General discussion | |
| I know that there are a lot of dealers out there who love associating George Nelsons name with American of Martinsville. I have passed up on several pieces made by American of Martinsville over the past 6 months. I just checked 1st dibs and several of the pieces I have passed up are on there for $2,000+. I am just curious did Nelson even design anything for them? It seems the more time that passes the more he designed. Most recently I passed up on the link below...If it was by nelson I would go back and snag it for 100 bucks...but if it?s just poorly attribu ... | |||||

| Hello all, I was told you could help me. Two years ago we bought a used "eames lounge chair" from 1st dibs online for $2,600. It was shipped from Los Angeles to Boston. We're moving now and trying to resell it for $1800 on ... (edited by DA, no advertising for sales please). Someone responded that it was unequivocally a fake worth not more than $400! Can this be? Even it it is a "fake", it's in very good condition (and comfortable). Can someone verify it's a fake, and suggest a fair asking price?? Also, and suggestions as far as recourse to recoup our money ... | |||||
| Milo Baughman or Vladimir Kagan? | 1 Relevance | 17 years ago | Retroyoyo | General discussion | |
| Hi I am trying to identify a side table and the results I'm getting off the internet have it credited to two different designers. Rago Arts has it listed as a Milo Baughman and 1st dibs has it "attributed" to Vladimir Kagan (but the V. Kagan website shows a similar style "radius" table). Anyone out there have any idea who it may be? I've attached links to the Rago Arts (which is the table I have) that they attribute to Milo Baughman. Thank you for your assistance! http://ragoarts.com/lot/53913 | |||||

| Frankl cork tables - a few questions | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | Modern Millie | General discussion | |
| Hello DA-ites. I am wondering if any of you knowledgable folks know whether Frankl's cork topped dining table was made of "solid cork" (I've seen one piece referenced as such on 1st dibs) or a veneer? Has anyone had experience with refinishing a cork topped table? I just acquired a dining table with the amber-colored cork top, but it has two issues: 1) A loss of varnish in one area of the table top 2) more significant: leaves are much darker than the rest of the table Alhough I intend to use it without the leaves, I'd like to know if this can be remedied ... | |||||

| Today I did what i do ever saturday...Drive around to every estate sale and most garage sales in my area in search for the holy grail... Today I pulled up to a house and saw a cool coffee table with a bunch or crap on top of it outside the sale...I was hoping it was a tulip table from a distance when i got near it had stainless steel legs and it was beautiful. I looked on the bottom and it said FH made in denmark. I asked how much to these old nice hippish people and I bought it immediately for 35 bucks... After some research i realized that it was produced ... | |||||

| A beautiful garage sale find, 2 "Thonet" arm chairs and four side chairs. I've only seen the style once, on 1st dibs, listed at 8 grand! There is no Thonet tag on any of them, but rather a paper, Made in Italy, tag. I find nothing on the internet indicating that Thonet ever manufactured in Italy, but before replacing the cane (because it needs it on a few) with upholstered seats and backs, I wanted to make sure. | |||||
| Widdicomb table - could it be Robsjohn Gibbings?.... | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| I have this Widdicomb table and wondering if it was designed by Robjohns Gibbings....it has a beautiful burled type wood - if anyone could ID the type of wood that would be great too. Think the base was painted black, doubt that is original. I posted a dining table from 1st dibs in which the base is a somewhat similar style to this one...... thanks! http://www.1stdibs.com/furniture_item_detail.php?id=384693 | |||||
