| ... say to myself when BROWN SANTA comes to the door with that THING I couldn't live without, that, at some point, it too will be replaced. Speaking of the "new now", I mentioned in another thread the movie "Objectified" and the is really an interesting diatribe on the "new now" by one of the contributors. I think that movie is a MUST SEE for all the folks on this board. | |||||

| Is it just me or is this a... Is it just me or is this a forum about design? I can understand some discussion of philosophy influencing design and vice versa. However, I don't think that diatribe contributes anything to this discussion. Better off posting that stuff on political forums. | |||||

| He has no idea how any of his grand plans could possibly be executed (short of actually executing a lot of people, which right there would open up more worm cans than even he could deflect). Hillary, on the other hand, is a policy wonk. It won't make any difference to Trump's moronic hardcore followers and it won't make any difference to hardcore Hillary haters (large overlap between the two but not total). I'm just hoping that it will sway enough swing voters to affect the outcome. I think the swing voters are largely silent on the internet---maybe? It ... | |||||

| I really don't get how you... I really don't get how you take this as an attack on America or Americans. No - its just you I have a problem with. In your diatribe above you attribute lots of sentiments to me for which you have no evidence other than your own prejudices. Do you think people can?t distinguish between what I actually said and what only you infer? Gimme a fkn break indeed. Here's what YOU said :- " The only guy who beat me racing was a dude in a hopped up Mercedes CLK55 AMG. He got me by a fender. He couldn't believe it when the light turned ... | |||||

| ... much more than their contemporary Vitra reproductions, which already come with batteries. But if you're not getting a premium for a vintage model, and replacing the works reduces the value of a vintage model, why not just buy the Vitra or leave the vintage clock the way it is? But when it comes to the rarer clocks, I think it would be foolhardy to replace the works. For instance, eye clocks with replaced works garner half as much as those in original condition at auction. Why? Most people who collect Nelson for historical significance would not want to ... | |||||

| Maverick Poor Sarah Palin can't win anything. My vote for the sheer fun is "Maxilampus and her vitriolic diatribe on the Sarah Palin thread," the thread that nearly destroyed us. But my top vote is for "laughably crap replicas". | |||||
| I have to say | 1 Relevance | 21 years ago | SDR | General discussion | |
| I have to say that Detective Constable Wilson's excellent diatribe (it isn't really such, at all -- but I like the word!) brings to mind one small aspect of the larger issues he so capably discusses, to wit: the content of many an architect's written account of his works -- or at least, his *ideas* -- as compared to those works themselves. I suspect it is only an aspect of the oft-mentioned difficulty encountered, in attempting to say anything useful in one medium (ie, written or spoken language) about the content, or at least about the meanings, of work ... | |||||

| Jaysus in a sandwich! This is nuts! Hopefully I can lay this all to rest... Stephen, if ALL you said was that I was the "thinking man's Cameron diaz", (whatever the heck that was supposed to mean) we never would have had a problem. If you had toned down the commentary after the first time I politely asked for it to stop, we also would not have had a problem. Oh but no, you had to drag it out, blow it up and continue beating the snot out of me over my justifiable indignation, just cuz you thought I should be amused by it all. I may be humorless and 'boring', ... | |||||

| Oh Stephen...sarcasm is the... Oh Stephen...sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, you know. If you want to be loved on this board for your sparkling wit (and get some chairs posted your way, etc.) you're going to need to try much, much harder. Let's see that cleverness, Stephen. Show us how you're the laughing man's Cameron diaz. | |||||
| I apologise | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | Stephen | General discussion | |
| I apologise I have reviewed my comments and now realise that referring to somebody as "the thinking man's Cameron diaz" is insulting and offensive in the extreme. In fact, it's quite a disgraceful thing to say about somebody. Nobody on this forum should have to put up with abuse like that. I'm sorry. | |||||

| And another thing Let's get this into perspective. All I said was that Olive was the thinking man's Cameron diaz. it was a joke, implying that if I flatter her, she might send me some chairs to Australia. Jesus Christ (apologies to our Boble Belt readers), was that really so offensive? I hardly think that it constitutes a creepy comment? But hey, since 9/11 Americans have lost any semblance of a sense of humour. No Olive, I don't think you wear a cowboy hat. I just think you are probably a very BORING person. | |||||
