| Hello Kitty!!! Oh gods AzC you're a Hello Kitty fan??? Me too, although I'm not obsessive about it. Target was carrying some house-y thing a while back so I've got hand towels, floormats; that sort of thing. I got introduced to H.Kitty ages ago when we had a Japanese exchange student when I was in high school. It wasn't even sold over here yet. There was this diary and notbook that had all these completely wacky bad english 'wisdom of the day' quotes in it. I wish I still had it, it was hilarious. | |||||

President Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize, while continuing the Bush policy of war without end. The rich are richer and the poor are poorer. The prices of very desirable, high-end products--both new and old collectibles--have risen, whilst the prices of chaff have crashed. | I for one think the forum is... I for one think the forum is a great resource. But beyond the simple notion of IDing furniture and items, there really is a community of people with similar interests that just span the spectrum in diversity. The diverse group of attitudes, political beliefs, cultures, and financial status allow people that might not interact, a place to share common interests. The knowledge of the membership is really a great asset for those of us that aren't surrounded by people that appreciate great design. I know for me, I wish I was more ... | |||||

| I like them, much as I... I like them, much as I dislike poly-foam, probabaly just becuase they had such a starring role in 2001. I'm not too sure about the backrest, I had allways assumed they were a seperate piece that emerged from the underside and bent upwards, I am upholstering some plywood shells right now of similar shape but am using thick felt carpet underlay instead of foam, its er challenging! But it does staple into place quite firmly with no glue or toxicity at all. There is an egg chair restoration diary online somewhere too, will try and find ... | |||||

| depends on setting fastfwd, I agree this design does not "set the world on fire". It would seem perfect as school chair, although not being stack-able could be considered a drawback for institutional use. In early 2004 I purchased a black Tongue chair directly from Fritz Hansen. It was used in a Fritz Hansen US dealer tour with the Michael Sheridan, Room 606 book lecture. I use this with a Leitz Tiltall and Zeiss diascope T 85 FL spotting scope. Form and function are 100% (to me) in this use. I am prejudice in that I look on Fritz Hansen (Poul Kjærholm PK ... | |||||
| do you have hard time fitting the base bracket underneath | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| do you have hard time fitting the base bracket underneath the bottom of the seat between the 2 rails? if so, i think you would need to find a way to "stretch" or "expand" the 2 rails wide enough that you can slip the base mounting part underneath. i also have a chair that has been diassembled and i still did not get around to find a way to "stretch" the rails apart properly. they use a hydraulic machine at the vitra factory to "stretch" the frame! maybe others can chime in. fb | |||||

| What are the Top Ten Moments on DA for you in 2008? Place your votes here. These were my highlights: Brent and his Mahogany Association Number angst. Dots and her microscope. Maxilampus and her vitriolic diatribe on the Sarah Palin thread. The breathtaking video of Hans Wegner's chairs. Slunskin = fetal calf Jeremiah's rocket ship Eames chair. Let's vote and come to a concensus on the Top 10. | |||||

| I am sorry Norm But I did not think you would expect any comments, especially not considering that this award to Lucia DeRespinis was long overdue. Somehow we got used to the fact that there is a forgotten generation in design. They did not become the darlings of the mid-century-design revival, partly because we can only remember so many names, partly because they themselves were never interested in stardom. Lucia DeRespinis is one of them. I think of them in the words of Jan Morris: There are people everywhere who form a fourth World, or a diaspora of their ... | |||||
