| Looking for a new rug | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | RetroSixty | General discussion | |
| I have been recently toying with the idea of adding a rug to my living area. I was thinking of placing it under my Nelson bench to add some warmth to the room, but I am worried it might start to look cluttered. What does everyone think? I have included an image of one rug I spotted below. The diamond chair is soon being replaced by a black leather Swan, and the Nelson pedestal (now next to the diamond) is going for a Platner table, and I'll move the lamp inside a little. | |||||

| ... it. Been thinking about the Bertoia diamond just cos I love the way it looks. On that score, I am totally torn between having it in Chrome with a seat pad as it was originally designed, or having it fully upholstered. Am wondering if anyone has any other suggestions. Am quite new to these stuff. I suspect half my knowledge on contemporary design classics came from this forum ... Thanks again. | |||||

| Vintage Bertoia Diamond Chair ID | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | Mamer | General discussion | |
| Hi guys, I came across this pretty good looking Bertoia chair that claims to be vintage Knoll. I'm not that familiar with what exactly to be looking for in an original, but based on the threads I saw during a quick search the base seems to match up w/ the Knoll version. Anyone have any other tips for what I should be on the lookout for when trying to ID a real Knoll model vs a vintage reproduction? Thanks for all your help. Pics have been included below. | |||||

| Drexel Declaration Walnut Chairs by Kip Stewart | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | askdzign | General discussion | |
| Hello, I am searching for these chairs! They have diamond inlays in the backrest and are solid walnut. They are designed by Kip Stewart for Drexel but are often mistaken for being designed by Ed Wormley. Regardless, I inherited this Drexel dining set but only 4 chairs have survived being passed around ... So I'd like to locate 4-6 more. 2 Captain's chairs would be great. There were some listed on Ebay but the price was outrageous especially once you add shipping to that. They didn't sell. Thanks! Ashley | |||||
| Harry Bertoia vs. Charles Eames | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | LRF | General discussion | |
| ... the wire chairs in the early 1950's, 2 years after Bertoia started having them made by Knoll Associates , out of loyalty to his good friend Florence and Hans Knoll who had known since he came to America and met at Cranbrook . Bertoia thought that Eames betrayed him after years of research and working on the chair on his farm . Eames came up with a differnt design not to conflict with the diamond chair but the side shell chair was very close to Bertoias side shell chair. This caused ... | |||||

| bertoia chair full cover | 1 Relevance | 20 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| I went to the Knoll studio in DC today looking for sample fabrics for a small diamond chair cover. Not only are they expensive ($570!), but the woman who waited on me said I would need a professional to put it on, and once it's on, you should not take it off. I was hoping to use the chair covered in the winter, and outside (it's the inside/outside model) with a pad in the summer. Is this not possible? | |||||

| Bertoia Bird Chair, Knoll or copy? | 1 Relevance | 21 years ago | Banden | General discussion | |
| Hi Are there any other manufacturers licenced/unlicenced other than Knoll that makes the Harry Bertoia Bird Chair? I bought one 2nd hand and wonder if it is made by Knoll or not. I havnen't found any webshops that sell "Bertoia Style" labeled Bird Chairs like they do with the diamond. My chair is withouth the cover, so I can't look for the Knoll Textile marking. http://kurl.no/U9Z4 Bart | |||||
| mutant bertoia side chair | 1 Relevance | 20 years ago | whitespike | General discussion | |
| A friend of mine recently finished a house he was rennovating for someone. Along with the house came two Bertoia side chairs and one diamond. Although the original owners claim to have bought the chairs as a set a long time ago from Knoll there are some design issues that lead me to believe that these might be knock-offs. They powder coated them and are using them as patio furniture (they were used like this to begin with and were rusty) so I am not concerned for value sake, but I am curious. All in all they look exactly right, down to the pad. The base lo ... | |||||

Considering the large amount of cord you have to carry to do one of these diamond weaves, I don't see it being practical to slot it through between the seat frame and side stretcher. Possible, yes, but it would take so much longer to weave. | |||||
