| ARTIFICIAL or NATURAL-same thing? | 2 Relevance | 23 years ago | david-48 | General discussion | |
| ARTIFICIAL or NATURAL-same thing? you think/FEEL its the same?We are talking about language, and in many cases here if anyone would admit it, about a GOD,if indeed you feel eggs,minerals,trees/mice etc. are designs on the order of computers, skyscapers, medical devices,.I think it diminishes both NATURE and DESIGN to call it the same. | |||||

| +that baby suite thing is terrifying Stephen, your ugliness article was excellent. I enjoyed it. Please do post your next one. Sorry I din't offer anything in time I've been working through weekends here and totally swamped....the US has become rabid for information about renewable energy...we can't give the classes fast enough! | |||||
| That was the one thing that | 2 Relevance | 9 years ago | Spanky | Identification | |
| That was the one thing that struck me, too--the style of the "Made in Denmark". Specifically, that the M and D are a bit outsized. The tops of the lower case letters are below the midpoint of the upper case letters, a font style that is not the usual in furniture marks. That's the bottom of my depth of knowledge on this point, though. | |||||
| The bird thing was a joke | 2 Relevance | 15 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| The bird thing was a joke I'm pretty sure woody, DudeDah, etc. were referring to this. Pretty funny. I'll try the dark dark brown. I agree that stark white and jet black are usually not the way to go. Not sure why I did it that way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XM3vWJmpfo | |||||
| The most strange thing, to me | 2 Relevance | 9 years ago | Doski | Repair | |
| The most strange thing, to me, is the shape of the hardware itself. Clearly the screws have been tampered with. But the shock mount part of the metal has a circular shape. Which, according to this website, makes it an Evans model (which I thought were produced in California). However it clearly has a Zeeland, MI label. http://www.modernconscience.com/store/page186.html Clearly, its a hot mess. That's all I know for certain! | |||||
| Interesting! The first thing | 2 Relevance | 11 years ago | leif ericson - Zephyr Renner | General discussion | |
| Interesting! The first thing of note that I see is that the screws on the bottom fastening the armrests are square drive heads. This suggests either that they are replacement screws, or more intriguing that the daybed is Canadian. I think that Canada might make sense, as it looks American in style, but it is teak. The frame is pine (or some other coniferous softwood like hemlock, fir, etc). | |||||
| The label is the only thing real about the chair. | 2 Relevance | 17 years ago | Modern Love | General discussion | |
| The label is the only thing real about the chair. Herman Miller placed those labels on the fiberglass shell chairs exported to Canada. Toronto was a distribution center, not a manufacturing plant. Unfortunately those labels come off very easily, leading to scams like this. | |||||
| The thing is... | 2 Relevance | 13 years ago | fastfwd | General discussion | |
| The thing is... If $150 is a lot of money to spend on a lamp, I'm not sure that $110 (the retailer's cost) or even $75 (Black Friday 50%-off super sale) would feel much more reasonable. I say this here about once a year: If you buy exactly what you want, you'll enjoy it every time you use it and you will quickly forget how much it cost. If you purchase something less expensive but which you don't like as much, you'll feel a little disappointed every time you see it regardless of the great deal you got. | |||||
| Last thing I picked up was... | 2 Relevance | 16 years ago | Chris M. | General discussion | |
| Last thing I picked up was... Last few things I picked up was this Heywood Wakefield desk for $20 along with a nice chair that looks like Plycraft for $10 but I have my doubts, a Heywood Wakefield end table for $10, and a tension pole lamp for $5 all at a local estate sale. | |||||
| One thing that leif, spanky | 2 Relevance | 9 years ago | Herringbone | General discussion | |
| One thing that leif, spanky and cdsilva pointed out is, of course, very true: There are tons of beautiful mid century lounge chairs out there. The deeper I dive into the matter the more beauties I find. So it is definitely worth to take your time, do research, consider and reconsider. You definitely can spend your money on an Egg or a wombchair. But both are quite an investment for something you describe in your own words as "quite comfy" and "not bad". Just saying. | |||||
| I think it's a style thing | 2 Relevance | 17 years ago | Olive | General discussion | |
| I think it's a style thing Either you like your coffee with feet and sensience or you like it to be a mellow social beverage that sit quietly in your mug. I want mine to stand up without the need of a cup and to b*tch slap me awake in the morning. Try that with drip coffee and you will have a foul, acidic, bitter brew indeed. With a press I can nave near espresso flavor and a full on caffeine hit. I drink one cup a day. I want it to be memorable! | |||||
| Good thing | 2 Relevance | 22 years ago | SDR | General discussion | |
| Good thing Az doesn't know where you live. . .! Didn't you introduce yourself here with a discussion of that table -- you were trying to decide what kind of top to make, for a limited space? Or was that someone else? I fianlly came up with an appropriate analogy (?) for the knock-off issue: gay marriage! I mean (this is off-topic, but -- oh well) insisting that no-one purchase or own knocked-off classics is a LITTLE like the argument that if gays are allowed to marry, then straights' marriages "are disrespected" -- isn't it?
