| Vintage Saarinen Tulip Table Top - 42" Rosewood Veneer? | 1 Relevance | 10 years ago | wcharles4 | General discussion | |
| I recently found this table top, attached to a non-descript cast aluminum base.......it's 42" in diameter, with a knife edge. It has a portion of its original Knoll Park Avenue sticker (dated 1971) still intact, and it appears, by the imprint left on the underside, to have been attached to a white tulip base. To my untrained eye, it would appear that this is a rosewood veneer top........can someone help me out by confirming that it's rosewood? In my research thus far, everything lines up for this to be a legit Saarinen tulip top.......but I haven't seen any ... | |||||

| identification of floor lamp... please. | 1 Relevance | 8 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| ... this lamp. There are no marks, The socket and switch appear to be made in the USA and I am located in the Midwest. One thing to note is that my lamp, and the one in the picture, are identical, and it appears both had the plugs changed for a rather industrial looking plug. The plug certainly appears to have been added later. My thought is both lamps had a euro plug, and someone in the states modified them. The cord is rather large in diameter accommodating that style of plug. Any help you can provide is appreciated, Thank you. | |||||
| Does anyone know what these teak things are?? | 1 Relevance | 9 years ago | SimpleDetails | Identification | |
| I acquired these interesting teak pieces at an estate sale. They didn't know what they were either... they seem like spools, but it doesn't really make sense. Someone said maybe candle holders, but that doesn't seem right to me. Has anyone seen these before? They are about 4" in diameter and 1" tall. I believe they are teak and they are stamped "DANMARK". Thanks so much! | |||||

| George Nelson round side table | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | JensV | General discussion | |
| I'm trying to buy a George Nelson side table. (diameter 43cm and 57cm high). All is original(no vitra) according to seller and inside the base is the logo from HM. He asks 300euro but I'm not sure quite yet because for me the top of the table looks in a very very good shape for it's age... I'll receive some pictures with the logo today. Also I see a colour difference between the top of the table and the leg. In most pictures that I've seen, the colours match with each other. | |||||

| Eames DCM, replacement feet; | 1 Relevance | 9 years ago | Pico | Repair | |
| I am restoring an early DCM using parts from Special K Products. I ordered new Dome of Silence feet without noticing that there was a choice of stud diameters. Early DCM used an 8/32 stud. More recent production used a 1/4x20. I received the 1/4x20 feet and, having not yet realized that Special K offered a choice of studs, drilled and tapped the legs for 1/4x20. (later I contacted Special K and learned about the choice of stud sizes.) Anyway...........the drilling and tapping went fine but when I threaded the new feet onto the ends of the legs, I found tha ... | |||||

| ... for maybe very bulky fabric or leather that's too thick to work with the button parts. Do not get covered button kits from a fabric store; these are mean for garments. Upholstery buttons take a lot more abuse. Attaching the buttons is pretty easy. You will need an upholstery needle about 6" to 8" long and some button tufting cord. You might be able to find the cord online--if not, venetian blind cord is ok, i think. That you can get in a fabric store. Heavy duty upholstery thread is not strong enough.
