| Widgetco.com has a pretty good selection of plugs, with options for diameter, head type, and wood. Not all combos are made with every wood type though. Since they are Imperial dimensions, they often require additional means (e.g. spanky's museum wax) to hold properly. | |||||

Are there any labels or marks anywhere on it? And lastly, where are you located in the world? Your ID doesn't provide a location when I click on it.

| How about getting round | 1 Relevance | 9 years ago | Spanky | Repair | |
| How about getting round dowels and sanding them down a bit by rubbing them against sandpaper laid on a hard, flat surface? I don't think it would take long at all if you start with 60 grit to most of the work. The ones you saw that "look like they were bought that way" may have been run through a jointer or something---that would produce a clean cut though I'm not sure how it works on something as small as the diameter of the dowels for these chairs (done before cutting to length, of course). The woodworkers here will know for sure. | |||||

| ... are to take an abstract approach to this thesis, then one can possibly accept your interpretation. However, the flaw of this statement is its abstraction. If one has nothing to trade, then there is no opportunity for trade in the first place which in turn translates to no means of sustaining homeostasis. And if one does indeed produce a good which others deem valuable, the means of living then becomes the trade of said good, whether it be for food or other goods or currency. So you see, this is nothing more than an idealistic statement. Furthermore, this is ... | |||||

| ... forward to both his visit and comments. As usual the comments show more insight than one might expect from an amateur architectural critic. In fact his comments are worthy to be published and widely read. What surprised me most in the San Francisco project was to find such clear references to the kind of experiments he was doing in the early sixties. After such projects as the Jean Marie Tjibaou cultural center which is my favourite Piano building, I did not expect he would ever return to these early experiments that most of us have forgotten. They made suc ... | |||||

Victor Hugo More than a single building, by an only one architect, I think it would be better a master plan (made by an architect), with some buildings, each one by a different one. I would recall + The IBA Berlin 1987 + The Vitra factory + Ordos 100 So each architect could interchange with others, the ideas in the project. | pt 7 expressed in one form simultaneously in the structure itself. However the main commonality between Saarinen and Sullivan is not that their buildings effectively express nature's balance and movement, but that they both achieved this goal without an actual physical dialogue with nature. These buildings stand holistically on their own merits. They could be taken out of the context of their sites and no change in their visual effect would take place. Neutra took an approach in line with Wright that gave great weight to integrating a building into its natur ...

| More Speed... Boy, just read Roger Ebert's review and he hated it... It always fascinates me how differently persons can respond to the same movie (or the same design). This is why I think design and the arts are subjective and engineering is objective and that we need to continue using and grasping and improving both. But back to Roger and me (apologies to Michael Moore). I usually agree with Roger Ebert on most movies he reviews, but not this time. My young child, who likes most of the children's movies that Roger Ebert likes, and who likes the Matrix and ... | |||||

| My only concrete project | 1 Relevance | 9 years ago | SDR | General discussion | |
| My only concrete project occurred more than fifty years ago, when I had a job where cardboard tubes were discarded. I brought some pieces home and made this riff on the Japanese garden lantern. Corrugated cardboard in the mould provided a little texture to the terminals of the "rose." The shaft was 8 inches in diameter, the height under 3 feet, as I recall it. It stood outside my mother's studio for many years. | |||||
