| Hello jonnymiller. Oh,... Hello jonnymiller. Oh, you bet I'm impressed. The Soft wood bench, the Yang/Diamante bed, the Air system - they're all amazing with a capital A! It's right up my alley. Though too bad there are so many broken links in the English version of their homepage. And I would love to see some more pictures of the Soft Wood bench, esp. of it being used. The idea behind it is really clever and one of the best designs I've seen in months. I don't have a homepage (yet), but as soon as I'm close to being finish with my portfolio, I will show my fellow design addicts some drawings/illustrations of my work. | |||||

| ... also no longer enough for designers to dysfunctionally over-focus on silver bullet fixes--more -isms. They have to enter into the broadest dialogue with their times that that they are capable. They have to re-understand their world, as do all the persons they are creating for. There is no other choice than to resign oneself to be, as the Jews call the non Jews, goyim, or cattle, to be herded pastorally for a time, but eventually to ghastly slaughter. Designers need to do the very opposite of what so many of us are predisposed to do in such times. They need ... | |||||

| continued I decided that such a dialogue could alter the way that designers and architects and artists and scientists understand their contexts, not by me knowing more (I do not), but simply by me taking the time to engage them; that is, I decided the crucial catalyst; the taking of the time to engage others in creator/created for dialogue. I decided it needed to be done on as many levels as it could be done--ranging from as much simplicity and directness, as I could muster, to as much complexity and subtlety, as I could muster. I decided that the internet w ... | |||||

| Paulanna, I forgot to answer who I am writing for... I decided sometime ago that the societies that I had visited so far, did not work very well. I decided that many persons in positions of authority had never really thought much about how to make things better. They had their hands full trying to manage the structures that were there already. I decided that there were many persons in society that made things for persons in positions of authority in society that could perhaps be challenged to be more aware of these persons in authority, and more aware of the ... | |||||

| Hi Kirth - First, thank you... Hi Kirth - First, thank you for mentioning us in your dialogue. I understand how confusing it can be when you're searching for designer reproductions. On the one hand, the prices are much better. On the other hand, is the quality the same? This is a conversation everyone has with themselves when choosing between originals and reproductions, whether it is with furniture or art or anything else in between. One thing I like to point out to people is that with furniture, if the original designer isn't alive and making the produ ... | |||||

We need to photoshop some things out of it (referring to the thread "I hate Purple", in which Woody progressively photoshops objects out of a room until the room is pure white; link posted above) Barry (missing the humor): He said the same thing about my space. I don't think it looks cluttered. (amping up the passive aggression) Some of us live in real spaces, not showrooms. Woody: Dude, I was joking. Don't you remember the thread about the all white room? | DA-house It's really difficult to explain only how the house is. To me was all mixed in a nice relaxed warm experience, that mixed the architecture, with the kindness of the people, the PA collection, and more, all in one: Just to tell that was a nice dialogue surrounded by great architecture, excellent coffee and wine in a wonderful glass or cup (a collection piece),while having an interesting relaxed dialogue, while perceiving the designs, an on and on and on. Anyway, said that, I'll run the risk of dividing that in some points, although provably missing ...
| Now, the cane: a young | 1 Relevance | 8 years ago | SDR | General discussion | |
| Now, the cane: a young friend in Tulsa had need of a walking stick, and drew what he wanted. I did my best to follow his lead. I found some walnut turning stock, some 1 1/4" diameter aluminum thin-wall tubing, and a matching elbow (from Amazon). I hadn't done any lathe work in half a century, so it was fun to do. At the last minute, the cane had to grow by four inches; I was just about to do the last glue-up (epoxy), so I was able to insert a second length of aluminum and a (hidden) plug. I had fun with the foot, making a recess for a standard rubbe ... | |||||

| cont. If you take into account what I just described above, you can see that Blade Runner would infuriate Harrison Ford. Here was a solid paranoid detective story in science fiction (with the twist of a love story with an android based on a short story by Phillip K. dick lavished with rich production budget and an almost unprecedented and fresh (at the time) look botched by Ridley Scott's simultaneous ineptitude with story telling. Scott then really lacked the visual story telling skill needed to handle a full length picture of this magnitude(he was a maker ... | |||||

Their mentalities were/are: the best chance a movie has occurs if it is easily understood and very well made. Easily understood means, assuming a sufficiently compelling quest plotted elegantly (not too much, n ...
