I have a small diamond on my... I have a small diamond on my landing at home I would echo whitespikes comments, it is great for when friends come over and I need more seating as you can move it round easily, whilst its comfortable for sitting and chatting I couldnt imagine lounging round or snoozing in it I would imagine them being more comfortable with the full cover ( I just have a Bouclé seat pad) although one of the main reasons I like the chair is that you can see through it so visually it doesnt take up to much space The asymmetric lounge looks great ...
New form under Bertoia Diamond full cover | 2 Relevance | 18 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion
New form under Bertoia diamond full cover I got brave and deconstructed the full cover of our 35-year-old Bertoia diamond chair. Removed old foam, which was dust under the seat half. Plan to replace it with HR-70. Washed fabric, which is nylon and has virtually no wear. ... I'd appreciate suggestions from anyone who's done this. ... I took a couple of photos, but should have taken better notes while deconstructing. The CORD with two hooks goes along the hemmed edge of the TOP pieces of fabric, doesn't it? I believe the edges of the unhemmed bottom pieces of ...
I disagree | 2 Relevance | 18 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion
I disagree I believe a more elegant solution to maintaining the rigidity and shape of the square. I think there is a way that the locating pins in the corners could be shaped so as not to allow movement. Rod-shaped pins-which are fine for a triangle- but allow movement in the unstable shape of a square. Another simple solution might allow for your rod-shaped pins in the corners: One in the usual place, (as on the triangular base) and a second pin somewhat nearby,on all four corners. Now the base can not be forced into a diamond or trapazoidal shape becaus ...

I had a Bertoia diamond... I had a Bertoia diamond chair re finished last year didn?t go for powder coating instead I had the chair stove enamelled. Had some pieces car parts powder coated in the past and have never been that impressed with the finish. Instead I had the chair stove enamelled in black the end finish is superb with a deep glossy finish With stove enamelling the paint is applied with a spray then baked hard in the oven it?s a pretty old school technique but the results are superb Just waiting for a new Agean boucle pad from Knoll to finish it o ...

The fake diamond chairs I have seen... The fake diamond chairs I have seen all had very obvious differences with the real one. you can recognize a lot of the fakes by looking at the way the "wires" of the chair are connected to the outer edge of the chair. Some fakes have the wires welded to the underside of the outer frame, othes have a double outer edge, with is "sandwiching" the wires. You can take a close look at the edges of a Knoll diamond Chair at www.knoll.com. As you can see there,... the wires need to be on the upper side of the edge. I also notice ...
Bertoia Small Diamond covers | 2 Relevance | 19 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion
Bertoia Small diamond covers I'm a long-time Bertoia fan. Bought my first chrome small diamond in 1966. Have put on and taken off covers many times. Pretty easy to do. Chrome chairs tolerate the outdoors best. The powdercoated chairs are meant for outdoor use but cracks in the finish will develop and show the rust. And cleaning can make you crazy. If the chairs are in pretty good condition, I suggest that you protect them from heavy moisture. If you are a purist, be certain to have the little plastic glides in place on the bottom of the rails to keep ...

Bertoia diamond chair One of my worst buys ever was a Bertoia diamond Chair at an auction. It was old, probably 60's, and had the original yellow vinyl cover which was very beat up and torn and dirty. The fabric underneath was in poor condition, as was the foam. I didn't take the cover off to inspect the wire mesh. I usually am mnore careful but I'd kinda gotten my heart set on getting the chair and didn't want to bother with details, I guess. Anyway, a dealer was there and he bid against me and I ended up paying about $150 for it. I figured I could mak ...
Bertoia Diamond chair | 2 Relevance | 19 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion
Bertoia diamond chair I got a Bertoia diamond chair with original vinyl cover at auction for about $140. I foolishly neglected to look under the cover so I didn't see the four or five broken wires and another two or three that were badly repaired. The cover was in very poor condition but I thought I could use it as a pattern to make a new one. Ha! I think they were made on molded forms or something. I could not figure out how to fit fabric to that chair and I've done a lot of upholstery. Plus, it was not particularly comfortable. I eventually sold it on ...

Bertoia diamond in the rough Sorry for the cheezy tag line My younger brother Jacobo (he was about 8 yrs at the time) found a Bertoia large diamond chair with the orginal cover for $12 at an antique store in Dallas. He didn't know what it was (he's not a genius), but he told my dad "hey, Dad look at this cool chair, you should get it for Charles" I still owe my little bro dude for that find

Who cares about comfort, the diamond chair just isn't sexy enough My wife and I went furniture shopping yesterday, visiting Knoll and Cassina distributers among others. It was the first time I have ever heard her use the word "sexy" to describe furniture. This as she was drooling over an MR group lounge chair in red leather. A Le Corbusier LC4 chaise lounge provoked an almost identical response. The diamond chair never had a chance.

diamond I own a small diamond. It's a comfortable enough occasional chair - not the kind of chair you would sit in for hours on end. The Bertoia bird chair is much more comfortable, as it puts you in a more reclined posture when you sit in it.
Mounts only on larger Bertoia diamond chairs | 2 Relevance | 21 years ago | Ben joyner-72 | General discussion
Mounts only on larger Bertoia diamond chairs The rubber mounts are only on the larger Bertoia diamond chairs. The smaller Knoll Bertoia diamond and side chairs don't have the rubber mounts (just screws). If your chairs are the larger version (with rubber mounts) then I would pretty much guarantee they are original Knoll anyway. I don't think reproductions of the larger diamonds have ever been made. |
