| havent' posted in a while, so many beautiful things! I am a little jealous of your book jesgord! As a fellow book-geek i recently picked up "John Lautner, Architect" which is very nice but sans autograph. here are some of my finds from the last weeks: Edvard Kindt-Larsen table, France & Son - 70? Willy Guhl diablo planter - for free danish chrome & teak jug - does anyone know it? | |||||

I'm pretty ideological myself and I can't think of any company I dislike enough to use comparable language... maybe you didnt work for them yourself, but something is making this VERY personal for you.
| The look you want | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | Monochrome | General discussion | |
| The look you want "Down with Love" (2003): not an art film by any means, but an idealized 1962 production design that somebody put a lot of work into. For more nearly realistic but still stylish decor, view any of the Woody Allen movies with sets by Santo Loquasto. The best subterranean hideout of all time (fantasy division) can be seen in "Danger diabolik" (1968). | |||||

| ... for choosing a 911 has always been "buy the newest one you can afford". Performance improves with every iteration -- go back through old car magazines and you'll see that every new 911 "has finally fixed the previous model's diabolical trailing-throttle oversteer" -- so the 997 is a better car than the 993. Plus, even the newest 993 is twice as old as the oldest 997, so it's harder to find a good well-taken-care-of example. | |||||

| ... in a sense even more diabolical than simply sourcing a knock-off from a producer. they have deliberately gone out of their way to take designs such as the heller chair (just one example) in-house and create a knock-off version..... completely disrespecting the authorship and ownership of the design. what makes this particularly egregious is the blatant betrayal of any sort of reasonable ethical standards..... DWR cultivated relationships with the designers and manufacturers of the pieces mentioned in the initial thread at top and then stole their wor ... | |||||

| I re-found my love for Willy Guhl's... I re-found my love for Willy Guhl's eternit designs, such as the Loop Chair or the diabolo planter/ ashtray - they look great with some patina! This table is new to me though. Very understated, very "swiss" in the details and elegant minimality. Many swiss designs share that attitude, that's why I appreciate midcentury Wohnhilfe designs, Max Bill chairs... great little country! bustelo: I added a thread with my (limited) knowledge about Grabe... | |||||

| Sure, sorry it was late!... Sure, sorry it was late! It's called the Orbita chair (part of the Orbita range), Arkana also produced a matching ottoman for this chair. See link below for an original image of both chair and stool. I'm not sure when it was designed, I'm guessing around 1971-72. | |||||

| Hi Not a great deal of reference! there is a Design magazine article. see link, and a few inclusions in the metalworkers 'year book's for the late 60's/ early 70's maybe somebody else has more? My uncle worked for them, so I can get him to identify most things if you have a pic (and that's what you need of course !) Robert | |||||

| My first "good" clock is this (probably) Italian clock totally make of alluminum. It's surface is deeply carved and it's diaginal lines across the face is disconserting since it's a totally square clock. Absolutely beautiful, but I don't know who was responsible for this amazing clock. It's certainly looks like high-end 1960's. It's 11 3/4" square any ideas? | |||||

| @yadutonus. Welcome. I have not been able to pin down a designer or even a maker for your lamp. In actual fact I have not even found the same lamp and believe me I have looked!! Found some bedside lamps with the same base.( image 1). Simply described as stilnovo style diabolo lamps. It would help if you could tell us what materials are used in the lamp and the shade, apart from the obvious brass bits. Is the base glass, plexiglass or metal ?. And as you have posted only one photo I can only guess as to what the shade is made from. Perspex ? Acrylic ? The bl ... | |||||

So I have no idea how many were sold or have survived 40 years of changing fashions, or if I have the very last one left! So you know what Im talking about, here is the original VADS scan of the release article from Hille when they released it (with the Hille/Robin Day Tote table.) It was also proudly displayed (in rows) at the entrance of the 1973 Hille - Furniture Takes To Technology" exhibition next to the Robin Day Poly chairs. You do not ditinguish between craft, art and design, others do...why does it have to be either/or? I look at artifcats like ven diagarmas, most things contain a few drops of the other, some like dieter Rams work are almost enitrely 'design', theres a spectrum really and when it comes time to put food on the table you won't perhaps care so much, or will care more about the market realities of selli ...
