| facts straight & disturbing questions summing up: my personal white leather Knoll chair has those seams on the frame, on both ends. The same frame bears the engraved Mies and Knoll engraved logo and signature (see image), so my white leather chair is 100% orginal and it HAS the seams on frame. To go back to the content of the initial thread: can the black leather chair be a Knoll chair, considering that it has those infamous seams which are common to all original Knoll Barcelona chairs (or at least to those produced in the 90's, like my white leather chair)? ... | |||||

| Delightful, or disturbing? I find the chair delightful.. and the ottoman, frankly, disturbing. It seems so 'artless' and out of tune with the chair. | |||||

| Even more disturbingly topheavy than the original chair. I've never particularly liked the Papa Bear, and never understood why many seem to think it some sort of Holy Grail of armchairs. The proportions of this loveseat-hybrid seem true to the chair, except for the width of the seat, of course. If it looks worse wider, does that mean the chair version might look BETTER if it were narrower? Let's see: | |||||
| Donkey in the ditch | 2 Relevance | 16 years ago | niceguy | General discussion | |
| Donkey in the ditch Lit Up, It is generally not important how the donkey got in the ditch, it just important to keep the donkey away from the ditch in the future. That being said, it is a matter of no periodic maintenance. Leather shoes must be cared for and this goes for leather furniture. What you picture is beyond cracks. Have the areas in question recovered. Based on your previous posts, you want to hear the answer: "rub on this miracle product and all is well". Good luck! | |||||

| Is it Ditlev or Ditley? | 2 Relevance | 17 years ago | Bario Mellini | General discussion | |
| I've got a whole set, c.70 pieces, of glazed stoneware bought many, many years ago at "Den Permanente" in Copenhagen, Denmark. Each piece is engraved with the artist's logo. The logo reads ditlev.Danmark, but could also be ditley.Danmark. When I search the net for either one I seem to get a lot more more hits associating pottery with ditley rather than ditlev. I was just wondering if you Denmark experts out there could clarify this for me. Thanks a bunch! http://www.flickr.com/photos/46639623@N07/4409278004/sizes/l/ | |||||
| Who's Ditlef of Danmark? | 2 Relevance | 17 years ago | Dummkopf | General discussion | |
| Who's ditlef of Danmark? This set was bought in Copenhagen at Den Permanente in 1970. I was really too young then to know anything about design and designers. I bought this set just because it was so stunning. Even after 40 years the glaze is still like it was new. The set is made out of raw dark brown stoneware and glazed in an indescribable remarkable color pattern. My wife and I started using this set but found that it was much too heavy to use. As an example the 15" serving plate weighs 5.5 pounds and each soup bowl with lid weighs 1.6 pounds. So the set ... | |||||
| Ditlev. | 2 Relevance | 17 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| Ditlev. Just from what I know about Danish names and the language, I can tell you that it's ditlev and not ditley. ditley would be English, Scots or Irish. You wouldn't see that name in Denmark. Also, Ebay's not a good source. All it takes is for one seller to misinterpret a mark once. Other sellers who do their research solely on ebay then keep the mistake going for others to pick up as they bring those items to the market. I know, I've been buying and selling on ebay for eleven years and have seen this over and over. | |||||
