| Need help to dismantle a Tulip Chair for restoration purposes | 2 Relevance | 16 years ago | kevin.retrodesign | General discussion | |
| ... to disassemble a set of 4 tulip chairs I found for sale. These are old and need to be repainted, that's why I need them to be disassembled. I have read the previous thread regarding a simmilar issue of someone else's tulip chair but the instructions given were not of good use in my case.. After inspecting my chairs I haven't found any C-Clamp between the seat and the base.. I also haven't got any screw with bolt visible at the axis of the base when looking from below the base.. The only thing that is visible are a set of 6 bolts on the circular metal plate ... | |||||

| Disassemble veneered bookshelf? | 2 Relevance | 6 years ago | user_111 | Repair | |
| ... (500mm). I'm not sure of its intended use back in the day, but it certainly does not fit in well with contemporary living situations. This is probably why they're asking so little. So, I want to cut it back to a shallower depth. However, it's completely glued up. The shelves are set into the sides with dados and the back is set in with rabbets. I believe there are brads through the back to the selves. I'm afraid if I try to dissemble it, the veneer around the dados is going to get torn up. Does anyone have experience/suggestions for disassembling this ... | |||||

| I've completely disassembled and re-assembled a few Møllers. So I can say it is certainly possible. When I need to separate joints I've borrowed a trick from somebody here (tchp? cdsilva?) and started using a steamer (like for cleaning or removing wrinkles from clothing). It really softens PVA glue a lot. Just aim it at the joint for a while. And then nice even gentle pressure to ease it apart. Or possibly light taps with a mallet. The clean off the old glue very well, dry fit to make sure all the joints are tight, glue, and clamp. Spend a bit of tim ... | |||||

| Chair disassembly Jdip: I have been wondering the same thing. It could also be determined if they are original to the chair by taking the out and disassembling the chair. Symmetry and the clear intent to hold the chair together with those screws would, at least, say that it did come from some factory that way. | |||||

But neither the people she hired to move the sofa, nor the seller know how to unscrew or disassemle the armrest. Maybe someone could provide information on this sofa. Does it have screws and where could these be "hidden"? Or is this sofa glued together? It is this model: Minotti Jagger - bought in 2008 - its the model with high armrest and high back - size: 233cm x 104cm (~ 92in x 41in) Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
