| I disagree Adam. I have... I disagree Adam. I have actually learnt a lot about art from my Father, who himself is quite famous in the UK for his reference books on modern British art - I honestly wouldn't trust anyone's judgement over his gained in over 40 years of avid/maniac collecting. My collection has been well thought out, unfortunately at quite a cost as good quality modern British rarely slips through the net like furniture can. I am as big a collector of art as I am furniture, and a number of my prints are part of major collections at the Tate etc s ... | |||||

| I disagree, I think the reason for this is something called "the housing market crash", which of course lead to something called "the recession". Almost everything is cheap. I know a lot of Canadians have been buying up property, hoping for a good return when the US economy bounces back. You can buy a house in Detroit for $1. http://abcnews.go.com/Business/Economy/story?id=7034770&page=1 | |||||

| i disagree i disagree that neither are great makers, although Nathan and Austinsuite were not top end manufacturers I still think that they turned out some nicely made items and some interesting designs such as the 'circles' sideboard which often fetches up to £300 on uk ebay | |||||

| I disagree. I can certainly... I disagree. I can certainly follow your thought on the honesty of materials. In case of this planter executed in bricks I don't see the value of leaving this as is. The surface is to small and floats within the composition of the face of the building. The bricks give the front even more disunity, I strongly believe painting them in one color will bring that unity. To begin with. | |||||

| My nephew, Max, would disagree with you... but I know what you mean about some letters always looking wrong no matter what typeface is used. I've always disliked 'F' and 'P' because they mess up the kerning. | |||||

| I could not disagree more. I don't agree at all. In fact, to my family the modern furniture, art and design that fills our home are the most comfortable, most livable and inspiring things we could have. We also consider ourselves very fortunate to not just have these things, but a fantastic modern home that fits us and our lifestyle perfectly. My feeling is that most of the design I respond to have both artistic value and are also a rational, functional solution to a problem or need. I find it interesting how when we have friends over who are not into modern ... | |||||

| I disagree I think these arms are yella because of the coating-- it looks too similar to what mine were like. Are you suggesting someone intentionally had the arms plated? Seems unlikely. Did you buy yours from a vintage dealer, LuciferSum? Perhaps the dealer removed the unsightly yellowed film, as I did (?). As for the shaft-- maybe it's wood veneer over aluminum. I'd buy it, for $9.99. | |||||

| Disagree SDR, I must respectfully disagree. I (unfortunately) did the same kind of damage on a veneered desk surface by grabbing the wrong screw. The result was that the veneer on the top was pushed up in flat planes as the screw dug through the MDF substrate. MDF is a composite material with no grain to is, so it was easy enough to tamp it down with a hammer, compressing it into a flat enough surface. I simply tamped down on top of the broken veneer. I then inserted some glue with a syringe, like I described above, covered the area with waxed paper, an ... | |||||

| Disagree I disagree completely - there is a very real and very rational debate about intelligent design. It's almost lunacy to assume that our entire existence is just one cosmic accident. The much more plausible explanation is, of course, that the Flying Spaghetti Monster reached out with his many noodly appendages and created this world and all that is in it. On a less serious note, I don't think evolution and design are so separate. Henry Petroski puts forth in his book 'The Evolution of Useful Things' that design evolves from perceived failures in exis ... | |||||

| i disagree I've noticed an increase in actual Eames items on eBay - to the point where I have held back from posting some of my extraneous items. What is most surprising is that a number of the items I've seen have been big ticket items - early pieces, rare pieces, some prototypes - the kind of things you expect to be squirrelled away by museums. I know some of the BIG pieces were done through Wright's auctions, but a great number have been independent sellers. | |||||

| I gotta disagree, I don't thi... I gotta disagree, I don't think its an overwrought discussion at all, if this piece is featured as 'good design' in an internationally districbuted magazine than its ripe for critisicm and the comments above all strike me as quite valid and considered. The join I especially refered to was in the chair, at the join under the knee, a downward load forcing that front leg out will cause problems to the finish. There are no visible fittings, it looks totally smooth to me, so either there is an internal fitting and the pieecs have ... | |||||

| I have to disagree with it be... I have to disagree with it being useless. How many of you use a bookend to stop your books, dvds, or whatever from falling over? Many I'm sure. The angle allows for books to be placed upright without the need of a bookend. Minimal..... perhaps, but each shelf looks to be intended for different uses. Not everything you want to display will fit your your 10" high shelf. Some are perfectly horizontal for your decorative items. Think outside the box people, I mean this is a design forum. As for the chair and ottoman, I thi ... | |||||

| I have to disagree with Koen ... I have to disagree with Koen on the idea of the elderly enjoying the lightness of carbon fibre composites. They may momentarily appreciate being able to more easily move their furniture but I don't think it would provide for much in the way of emotional connection, a sense of history or comfort. | |||||
