| It's a bit disconcerting when you blokes have different opinions - sort of like when you're a little kid and your parents disagree with eachother. I have the table upside down now and I'm reading the label underneath it. The date of manufacture was 1989 and the top is finished in Millafin, which is (or perhaps was) Herman Millers 'synthetic polymer finish'. Apparently it provides 'increased resistance to stains', but is no match for cat piss. Still it is a nice surface, hard wearing surface and I'm reluctant to disturb it. I have put a patch of hydrogen pero ... | |||||

| Leif. Let me disagree on this one. Yes, obviously the "Made in Denmark" on furniture had something to do with export / import. However, I believe that the "Made in Denmark" was (is?) a brand by itself when it came to furniture. A brand synonymous with design, quality and good craftmanship. A little bit like "Made in Germany" for anything technical or "Made in Italy" for shoes. I do not think that the average furniture buyer back in the 50s / 60s had any idea of who were Grete Jalk, Hans Olsen or Johannes Andersen. Except for the few big names, the "Made in ... | |||||

| Can't disagree with you about reality shows in general, Starline, but the only ones I watch (Project Runway and Top Chef) give me a chance to see people with real skills -- ones I don't have -- using those skills -- that's what I like. I'd hope for that with this furniture show, but there wasn't much of it, even without the copying. glassartist, sure, but it's fun to know what people on this forum think. | |||||

| The pay disparity issue is not a minor complaint, ObjectWorship, but I don't disagree with you about the rest . . . In fact, I would applaud Goodwill for recognizing the value in their items, if the organization did not, apparently, execute their charitable mission so poorly. | |||||
| Sorry to have to disagree, juanearl. | 2 Relevance | 12 years ago | tktoo | General discussion | |
| Sorry to have to disagree, juanearl. This piece requires a specialist to make it right. Really, it appears from the photos that it's probably a straight nitrocellulose or acrylic lacquer, which are relatively easy to repair for someone with the right training and equipment. I would definitely not recommend applying an over-the-counter product designed for general use by homeowners as a cure-all. If any oily product at all gets under that compromised finish, it's done. Edited to change methyl cellulose to nitrocellulose. Oops! | |||||
| Have to disagree about Tonus-- | 2 Relevance | 12 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| Have to disagree about Tonus-- it feels very soft to me, and most wools feel scratchy to me. Topas is a fine crepe weave; it does look like the very popular synthetic crepes used on inexpensive office furniture but it's an excellent fabric on the right piece (but not at all what you want). | |||||

| I disagree with woody... I disagree with woody here. The shell itself is crap and depending on when it was made it will either have 3 holes drilled into or have a non- shock mount style to mount the base Since its upholstered The big thing is see that is worth it is that base. It looks like a great aluminum Group base that is worth more than the 80$. If it had been an h-base I would have said no Get the chair and either strip it of the vinyl or buy just a bare fiberglass shell. A black bare fiberglass shell with that same base went for 699$ on eBay. I can't ... | |||||

| I disagree I think the site is more about contemporary decor trends in general (e.g. frame clusters, taxidermy, wall decals, old bird cages, etc.). It's unfortunate that modern classic furniture pieces happen to be part of or overlap with some of those trends (or decorator's sense of "style") as well. | |||||

| Sorry, Adam. I must disagree. Whatever doesn't "soak in" in 15 minutes is never going to. And any film left overnight will begin to congeal into a gummy mess to remove the following day. | |||||

| i would disagree... after doing a bit more research, it appears to be a very early work of the Bauhaus by a very unknown German designer Hässlich Von Müll, a peer of Misthaufen Palisander...not much is known about him as the story goes, after designing THIS chair he went mad and subsequently ended his life, knowing that he could never design better, a tormented genius...some stars just burn brighter and then fade away.... | |||||

| Have to disagree. I don't eve... Have to disagree. I don't even like the pink in that photo. It does its job - punch. But so could other colors. Orange. Yellow. White even. And just bc the room might look drab without that coffee table doesn't say that much ? only that the room isn't good enough to stand alone and needs saving by some garish color to give it contrast. | |||||
