| I am at a disadvantage with nothing but photos to go on but it looks like teak and Oregon Pine, which is commonly known as Douglas Fir. And that is an unusual combination. There was a moment in the early 1950s when Oregon pine veneer was used as a counter veneer for teak. Also B | |||||

| Mark, I disagree. The OP told the refinisher what to do and he did it. When you tell someone you want a whisky and they pour you Jack Daniels, and you complain that this whiskey taste bad, well who is at fault? The guy who said I want a whiskey, or the guy who poured the whiskey? Of course a nice bartender may take back the Jack Daniels and pour you something else, but any self-respecting bartender will also brand you an unpleasant unreliable customer. This is not good for a long term bar patron - bar tender relationship. He responsible thing to do is to or ... | |||||

| I disagree that identifying a chair by the "made in denmark" is spurious. Sometimes those stamps are highly unique. And that leads to a rock solid identification. And it does have to _lead to_ it. I will agree that ending the story at a matching made in denmark is a bit too soon. But | |||||

| I respectfully disagree with you on the pneumatic stapler, Leif, based on my having used one for years and having shot hundreds of thousands of staples into wood with it, and also removed nearly as many staples when stripping old upholstery. I have seen wood split from the heavier gauge staples in an electric staple gun but not correctly spaced pneumatic staples. | |||||

| I don't think I disagree on | 2 Relevance | 9 years ago | Kyle Barrett | Identification | |
| I don't think I disagree on any objective front... Just that I weirdly like it? I think it's dark stained teak, I feel like you can see the heavier grain in the light. The things holding me back are the fact that I have no space, especially for a hulking piece like this, even if it does split down horizontally. And then the two detailing elements I dislike: one is the veneer colour not matching the and the handles and then the through glass hinges which is also a turn off for me. That made it 70s to me. But I'd be lying if I said it weren't mainly the space ... | |||||

| I have to say that I disagree about mid century kitsch. I am certain that my opinion is out of the ordinary on this, but I don't like mid century American kitsch at all. This leaves just that much more of it for those who like it. | |||||

| Hmm, I disagree with you brbeard but welcome your comments. Here is the original image that led me to my discovery. "Conant Ball Modernmates Armchairs" https://erikgwarner.com/shop/sold-inventory/#jp-carousel-1064 Secondly, there is another chair depicted in the Modernmates line that I believe matches the ones in the image above with an apparent scoop to the chair back in addition to the one you suggest. Remember, this chair has rounded legs (first post) and not squared legs. Rebuttal? | |||||

| While I do not disagree with Aunt Mark, I am just wondering about those two little spindles (?) inside that swing-out drawer. Usually these are are in sewing cabinets so you can stick spools of thread on them to keep them from rolling around, or whatever. Maybe they have some other function? Also, the whole thing looks newer than back in the day when ladies did most of their sewing by hand and needed cabinets for supplies but not so much for sewing AT, since there is no kneehole in your thing that would enable someone to sit at a sewing machine and sew. ... | |||||
