| Vaya con dios, Stephen. You h... Vaya con dios, Stephen. You have been to the monastery and misread it as a cul de sac of nostalgia. Heaven help you in your trek. You are, like so many, like Ponce de Leon and Pizarro, searching for something that is not there, not now anyway. It is something that was there and vanished and will return again. But it is something that must be brought into being by much hard work and much dedication by many persons trying to scale the steep darkness to enlightenment. You cannot be born in an enlightenment, Stephen, simply becau ... | |||||
| Winner Disqualified for Plagiarism on Ellen's Furniture Design Show | 2 Relevance | 12 years ago | Riki | General discussion | |
| I may have been the only person watching this because it is a brand new show, but the outcome of Ellen's (Degeneres) Furniture Design Challenge was shocking. The winner of the 100,000 USD was disqualified one week after the show taped because his desk was discovered to be almost a direct copy of a young German designer's piece from a year ago that was his one-off master diploma project at Scharfenberg school of carpentry.Good catch, Ellen! Here is the link to the original secretary by Simon Schacht: http://www.scharfenberg.com/index.php/meistera ... | |||||

| Finn Juhl Diplomat Desk Authenticity | 2 Relevance | 14 years ago | Randito | Identification | |
| I just recently purchased a Finn Juhl diplomat desk that I am having some slight reservations about. I have never heard of a replica diplomat desk, however, when looking at the desk in comparison to other examples, I noticed three things that made me question the authenticity: 1. The indent on the side panels skirting underneath the desktop, do not have a complete square indent cutout (hard to explain). The cutout runs the length of the side skirt and does not end to make a complete square. 2. The legs are a slightly off color, and do not sit flush with the ... | |||||

| I've just acquired a Finn Juhl diplomat chair (it was sat out the back of a second hand shop being used as the 'smoking' chair!!), beautiful solid rosewood frame and an oatmeal flecked fabric rather than leather, all as it should be, but with no France and Sons or Cado markings. Was this design made by other manufacturers aswell? I don't doubt that it is the chair in question, just confused as to the lack of markings and wondering if anyone else has come across this? | |||||

| Finn Juhl - Diplomat...Lounge? | 2 Relevance | 14 years ago | LuciferSum | General discussion | |
| Hi All....I've been eyeing this on eBay and it is located close to me so I may go have a look in person. It's described as "Diplomat Lounge Chair by Finn Juhl for France & Sons, Denmark" I was trying to research it, but I can't find anything relating to Juhl doing a diplomat Lounge. The armrests are certainly evocative of the diplomat chair, but the cushioning and the bar supporting the back are clearly different. Is it just a case of wishful thinking on the part of the seller? | |||||

| Finn Juhl diplomat Desk This was the result of an urgent move. It was pushed out the door for 500. It's been the week of desks for us. The third image needs no introduction. Illusive barely begins to describe that puppy. Found last week exactly as you see it there. A bunch of computer crap cluttering up it's abused top. Oh the horror. I enjoy putting the love back into discoveries like that though. I'll bring it back and offer it up. | |||||

| Finn juhl diplomat chair Yes it has a small black bracket attached to the back, and the holes in the bracket does not line up with holes on base of chair.. Also it seams like a short bracket ( about 3")to hold the back of chair. I'm sorry I don't know how to post pictures Thanks Soflinka | |||||

| Finn Juhl diplomat Desk Authenticity Thanks for the reply. They all do look slightly off color, however the camera flash may accentuate it more so than with the naked eye. Also, the cutout motif doesn't seem to be original. I have an authentic F&S diplomat chair that shows the cutout and it doesn't match up to the desk. At this point I am beginning to believe that this desk has been modified and is not a 100% F&S made desk. Also included is a photo of the underside, where the side panel wood seems to be newer/ off color. On your original desks, where would t ... | |||||

| Diplomat chair The diplomat is one of the most accessible of Finn Juhl's designs (price wise) and can often be bought quite reasonably. We have one avalilabe and can offer it at an attractive price, though I don't want to break forum rules by advertising. | |||||
