| Help pick a modern dining room pendant light? | 2 Relevance | 16 years ago | winging_it | General discussion | |
| Need help with lighting. Very contemporary apartment with lots of light and odd angles. Rather small dining room but with numerous, long, rectangular nearly floor-ceiling windows. The room opens into our small entryway. Clean, Scandinavian modern/minimalist look, white walls, light oak floors. We have a Wegner table (CH327 dark walnut stain with a black extension leaf) and Wishbone chairs (white ash). So, lighting. We need a pendant. The tricky part is, the room is small -- just holds the table and chairs -- and a very strange shape that resembles a ... | |||||

| Does anyone know the origin of my dining room? | 2 Relevance | 16 years ago | Poach | General discussion | |
| I've had this dining room set for almost 15 years. I picked up the whole set, including extra leaves and chairs, for $350 at a second hand store. The buffet has a set of 6" legs that I removed so that it would fit under the windows. Anyway, a couple years ago I was at a mid-century show and one of the dealers had a china cabinet identical to mine. He said it was produced by Conant Ball, but I've never found evidence to support his ID. Does anyone recognize it? | |||||

| displaying dishes / has the china cabinet lost its modernity? | 2 Relevance | 16 years ago | whitespike | General discussion | |
| When I moved into my house, all I had in the way of dining furniture was my set of 6 DCMs. The first week in, I went out and bought a table and a hutch to display my grandmother's large collection of Fiesta Ware. I'll be the first to admit that the table and hutch are not my favorite. I sorta have my finger on the pulse of what I want to do dining table wise ... I am interested to see how other DAs display dishes. It does not have to be a hutch per se. In fact, there is something about the hutch that is either to traditional, or too retro. The hutch almost ... | |||||

| So I have a very nice wood veneer conference/dining table I've used as a desk for several years; we've not had a dining room in our house but will be moving to a place that does. I want to use the table for a dining table, but the wife says its a terrible faux pas to have a rubber edged table as a dining table. I couldn't give a s$it, but since they do make them with veneer edges, do you know if a table that has a rubber edge can swap in a veneer edge, and does H-M sell the veneer? Many thanks. | |||||
| Saarinen elliptical dining tables | 2 Relevance | 16 years ago | troutthunter | General discussion | |
| I came across what I think look like some Saarinen dining tables. I think the bases don't look like Knoll originals. I know it doesn't take a rocket scientist to trace an oval on a piece of marble so before I shell out a bunch of dough for 4 tables, I'd appreciate an opinion (or 2) from experts. So are they real? If not, are they something interesting? The guy is asking for $300 each it that fair? | |||||

| Help me with my new dining room? | 2 Relevance | 16 years ago | design_novice | General discussion | |
| Picture this: Very modern apartment, high ceilings, and tons of light. Small (but airy), oddly shaped dining room (mostly a triangle but you could make the case that it's a pentagon). Very white walls, light oak floors. Thinking about a table and chairs. Options include: Rosewood table (rectangular with rounded edges) with Moller chairs (#78) Cherner table with black Wegner wishbone chairs The rosewood table with the wishbone chairs. Some other type of table (what?) with either type of chair. | |||||

| I just picked up a Hans Olsen for Frem Rojle dining set (4 3 legged chairs and dining table) Wood's good but the vinyl upholstery has some tears and the foam's a bit 'crunchy' - the seats look straightforward to do but I'm not sure how to get at the inlaid vinyl pad on the back rest? Anyone ever done it? Simon Danish Homestore perhaps? | |||||
| Help IDing Dining Set: Dated 1949, no maker, w/pics | 2 Relevance | 16 years ago | Lauren | General discussion | |
| Hello! I just bought this great dining set, but it has only a date and model #. Can anyone help ID where or who made it? The markings say: "Jan 1949 122" and "8125 Table" The chair cushions were certainly redone in the 70s, and it has a very interesting two-tone varnish that I'm not sure is original. Can anyone help? | Arne Hovmand Olsen dining chairs ? | 2 Relevance | 17 years ago | dawn mead | General discussion | |
| ... seats and unlike the W2 chair, they have no stretchers between front and back legs, the back rest although very similar to the W2 design, is more pronounced/pointed. I have also noticed the join of the back rest and side supports is not straight, here it is more like a smooth dovetail joint. If anyone can help / point me in the direction of a positive ID, I would really like to see an example of Hovmand Olsens chair, and find out more in order to satisfy my own interest and feel confident in my sale. many thanks LuLu. | |||||
