Robert all those designs /... Robert all those designs / patterns were created in the year dot. The fact they've been used constantly over the centuries in every walk of life, and are still being used from the Kings road to B & Q, is more testament to what they are. As for the suggestions above of Jaques Adnet & di frutta ( ? ). Much appreciated. Gives me something to work with. Anyone care to date it ?

would it be wrong to list it ... would it be wrong to list it as a di frutta. I just dont have any neighbors I hate so bad that I would leave it on there poarch. Better yet I could sew on a Levies tag. And sell it as a levies additon lounge chair

Thanks Objectworship. Based... Thanks Objectworship. Based on what I have found so far the name Parsons Chair refers to a genre of chairs and not to a specific design created by an author. Is that correct? I found nothing about Gianni frutta. Who is he?

To be honest, I completely... To be honest, I completely forgot about it. I'm glad, though, it has finally been "discovered". I'm a bit amazed it has not been mentioned here until now. Anyway, I'm happy to update. If anybody has a particular di frutta masterpiece they would like to see added, let me know. I don't want to step on any toes here either. If anybody would like the blog taken down, I'm happy to do that as well

I would totally go as... ...Gianni Sachetta de frutta, if I was a buff youngish dude. But I'm not. My best costume ever was a dragon that I made myself. My husband-to-be accompanied me dressed in a fake fur wrap with a hunting horn and a little fake Forest Bird perched on his shoulder. We were Fafner and Seigfried from Wagner's Ring cycle. Good times.

Hrrmmm | 2 Relevance | 14 years ago | LuciferSum | General discussion
Hrrmmm I'm torn. On the one hand, we here at DA are often guilty of judging things. Especially inanimate things. On the other hand the things we deem distasteful are simply mocked (horrible upholstery) parodied (Gianna Sacchi di frutta) or relentlessly promoted (what is YOUR Mahogany ID number?) We never have actually stooped to 'killing' an ugly chair by firing squad. Yet. thoughts?

... share and acquire knowledge. If you see a thread with an ID that you don't want to be bothered with......just go down to the next thread. Although it will also likely be an ID request, you don't have to look at that one either 😉 Remember, if there were no ID threads, there would be no Gianni Sacchetto di frutta
Well, gang | 2 Relevance | 15 years ago | Riki | General discussion
Well, gang we have 3 years to ponder this question. What to leave in place of the appropriated Bertoia? I'm thinking something in the Mahogany Association line of Grandma's discards. Brent? What do you think? Or, perhaps, a nice di frutta-inspired aluminum lawn chair with plastic webbing in a faux leopard print. The possibilities are endless. However, rest assured, this Bertoia will be liberated from its' cruel environment. After all, it was only 18 degrees Fahrenheit today. It's just sad on so many levels.
I can only speak for myself | 2 Relevance | 17 years ago | Riki | General discussion
I can only speak for myself but I never assume anyone on this forum is American. In fact, just the opposite, I tend to pose my questions and comments in such a way that assume the majority of readers will be from abroad. Isn't that what makes this such a great discussion board in the first place? Now Barry, just admit that you could have answered your own question with a "wee Google" as MarkTulip says and Paulanna, try to play nice. Let's change the subject. What's Gianni S. D. frutta been up to lately? did he ever design anything for G Plan? I would th ...
Hold the phone. | 2 Relevance | 14 years ago | Spanky | General discussion
Hold the phone. They're by Giorgio Nelsoni, spurned lover of Gianni Sacchetto di frutta's mother. Nelsoni had a promising career as a designer but after the beautiful young bambina dumped him, he just kind of quit trying and these doggie lamps, or lampade del cucciolo as they are called in Italy, are the best he could come up with. The name was anglicized by the American distributor due to Mafia-related xenophobia stirred up by...um...Joe McCarthy. Yeah, that's it. Here's little Gianni and his mama back in the day:
ID for tufted mid-century upholstered chairs? | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | Honus_Wenger | Identification
Hello everyone, I really like these vintage chairs and am considering buying them for my apartment. They are in perfect shape and are tufted, which is wonderful, but lack labels. Anyone have an ID for them? I've read posts on here for a long time and know you guys are the best at identifying everything (particularly fond of the di frutta's labia chair). Thanks for the help! OMG. Eleven years ago ? "Bellissima Meloni Coperti di Leopardo di frutta, shown here in a 1989 photo" etc. Complete with "relevance" rating---as if ! I don't recall a poster called NULL NULL . . . but then there are a lot of things I don't remember . . . Just wondering yesterday how you all are doing. More crazy times ? I assume you're keeping up with Randy Rainbow and Stephen Colbert as we go into this tunnel together. What's up ? S |
