This is a pair of very elegant brass and glass ceiling lamps by ASEA, “Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget” (in English, the “General Swedish Electrical Limited Company”) ASEA had many of the days best designers working for them during this period such as Hans Bergström and Lisa Johansson-Pape. I think these are by Bergström since he made many lights with glass shades of this color and shape but I have not been able to confirm this. They are comprised of long brass staves that attach to the ceiling, ending in a brass cup over thick hand blown shades in opaline glass. The full length with stave and shade is 75 cm. Quality metal lamp sockets that can take any strength E27 light bulb. Great condition with no marks, nags och stains to the glass. The brass however shows some age as seen in the images. With brass this can almost always be polished off if you prefer. A very rare set of lights that look great over a large dining room table. ASEA was a Swedish manufacturer of electrical products and industrial infrastructure. While broadly known for the more large-scale parts of the catalog—e.g., steam turbines for power plants, high-speed locomotives for passenger railroads, etc.—ASEA endures in hearts of design lovers for their midcentury interior lighting collections produced in collaboration with venerated designers like Gunnar Asplund and Hans Bergström. I try to make the pictures reflect the true look, color and condition of the piece. If you have any questions or want additional photos please send a PM before buying.
