Modular sofa set “Mah-Jong” designed by Hans Hopfer 1971 for Roche Bobois with a mix of custom textiles designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier for Missoni.
It includes multiple cushions that can be arranged in different ways, as well as a corner piece and a single backrest.
Mix and match and stack as you please! Hopfer’s Mah Jong is one of the most iconic seating designs of the mid-century and Gaultier luxury textiles are pushing it to the next level. This is a large set and can be added at any time.
The Silk Velvet pieces are Missoni and the turquoise and vermilion corner sections, back and cushion, are personalized. Gaultier silk is no longer in production.

Signed with a label. The MSRP for this set is close to $ 20,000. Hans Hopfer designed the Mah Jong in 1971 with an innovative and simple approach to comfort, which had a profound impact on interior design.
Whether as a corner sofa, straight sofa, armchair, bench or extra bed, the Mah Jong has been designed to fit freely in its functions and shape. Each cushion is handcrafted in a dedicated workshop, using the same methods as an Haute Couture workshop.
Modular seats by the element, covered with fabric. Endless wetsuits, including seat cushions (95 x 95 x H.19 cm), straight backs and corner units (H.53 cm) and lounge chair sets (159 x 95 x H.19 cm). Padded elements are sewn by hand.
