Finnish Karuselli space-age lounge chair from the 1960s by Yrjö Kukkapuro for Artek.
Karusselli Lounge Chair, designed in 1964 by Yrjö Kukkapuro for Artek Finland. The chair is one of the most famous designs from the Space Age of the 1960s. Kukkapuro’s design was based on the impression of his own body in the snow. It took him several years to perfect the chair. The result is an extremely comfortable, extremely beautiful and absolutely unique model. Karuselli was presented for the first time in 1965 at the furniture fair in Cologne.
The chair consists of a foot and a seat shell made of white fiberglass. The shell rotatable. It is mounted on a chrome-plated steel bracket and upholstered in dark brown leather. Its condition is excellent – with beautiful leather patina.
