The seat height is adjustable from 45cm to 54cm. This rare vintage Swiss desk chair was designed by Martin Stoll in the 1960s and manufactured by Giroflex in Switzerland. The foot of this chair is made from polished aluminium with a teak veneer bent plywood shell as backrest and good quality brown leather. This chair remains in extremely good condition. Only light sings of usage, as shown on photos. The design has similarities to the Eames lounge chair. The chair can swivel and has a suspension system, which not only can lift set the seat higher and lower, but also can bent backwards. In 1872 Albert Stoll I established a chair factory in Koblenz, Switzerland. It produced bentwood chairs for cafés, hotels and stores. Starting in 1919, his son, Albert Stoll II, concentrated on the development and production of office chairs. In 1926 he invented the ‘spring swivel’, the first swivel chair with a suspension system, and had it patented worldwide. The brand name “Giroflex” (turn and flex), introduced in 1948, can be traced back to this invention.
